Official Final: Florida-74 vs Wisconsin-56, Wednesday, 7:00 PM, ESPN2
After the last game which was not much more than a scrimmage for the Gators, we get to see them in action against a solid Wisconsin Badger team. Wisconsin finished the season last year at 26-10 and were 13-7 in conference play. Since the Gators did get to play (a non-counting) half of a game against Georgetown they do have a little experience vs a better team to draw on. The Badgers have one win under their belt, a 87-47 outing over SE Louisiana, so this will be the first real test for them in the 2012-2013 season.

Bucky lost their best player, combo guard Gasser, to an ACL just before the season started.
Big loss for them. They were probably a top 16 team before Gasser went down; now they're a fringe top 25 team.
UF 72-60.

Gasser was certainly in the running due to his strong all around game, but I'd give Berggren the nod as Wisconsin's best player. He's very tough. Evans is also right there, and Brust certainly isn't their best player but COULD be on any given night if he gets hot from the perimeter.

No kidding. It's SHOCKING looking at all the empty seats for a Big 10-SEC game between two ranked teams. Especially with UF's program seemingly on the upwing right now (you wouldn't know it based on attendance). Even the 2nd level is half empty.
It seems attendance just keeps getting worse and worse year after year. How is that possible? Is there really that much to do in Gainesville? How come UF could pack the house for a game like this 10 years ago but now it's not even half full?
I realize the trend nationally is for attendance to be down in major sports (economy, HDTV's, whatever), but what I see right now is just sad - THIS game should be a near sellout. At some point your attendance becomes an issue where it effects recruiting, effects the viability of the program, etc.

This time, we can't blame the students. Thought more fans would show up to a pretty good match up. I hear of how good the O'Dome was years ago. Why is it like this now? Just an apathetic basketball fan base?

Yeah, I actually see students in the THIRD level. Which is nice to see, because actually that third level is not always a guarantee for students to show up like it used to be. The students definitely showed up.
But it looks like there is a whole swath of unsold seats up behind the baskets, 10 years ago you wouldnt see this many open seats if we were playing some Patriot league school. This is arguably our best OOC game. Which is why it's so surprising to me, it's like it keeps getting worse every year and has been for the last 5+ years. Like I said I know this is happening around the country in almost every sport (pro and college). I just wonder when it will start going the other way...(also keep in mind their are programs that are seemingly IMMUNE from this phenomenon, so it will make it harder for UF to compete with them)
