Just a thread for reviving memories of the past:
I'll start:
Remember when color movies were a novelty & now B & W ones are?

Birch beer...yum.
First time I had eggs with grits was a Royal Castle. Right next to the LITTLE FARM STORES drive through. Milk was a gallon for a buck, with big glass bottles with a metal handle and VANILLA ice cream gallon was 99 cents or something close.
Helped my 13 year old buddy fold papers , MIAMI HERALD, on a Saturday at 5 am.
My reward was breakfast at Royal Castle.
Good trade.
Once, I was one of two customers at 6 am on another day. The guy took my order and twenty minutes later , I had not received my order. As I got up to leave, the paramedics rushed in and said WHERE IS THE GUY HAVING AN EPILEPTIC SEIZURE??, then jumped over the counter and into the back room.
Because I am very smart, I decided I better go someplace else .
On 119th st and seventh ave. in Miami was a Latta's restaurant. There was another further south. I went to high school with the son of the owner.
They had a huge slanted mirror over the grill with these immortal words in big white letters.. COOKED IN SIGHT MUST BE RIGHT.
You know, I think I sat in almost every seat, walked all around the counter area...and NOT ONCE COULD I EVER SEE ANYTHING BUT THE TOP OF SOMEBODY'S HEAD.
hhmm
While we are eating, I hope somebody remembered LUM'S , hot dogs steamed in beer, and BIG SCHOONERS of beer.
Lord have mercy.
Superior thread
I also remember tv signoff with the STAR SPANGLED BANNER

Yes, I remember Lum's. They used to serve Frosty root beer I believe. Shakey's Pizza, too. How about this? "It's ten o'clock. Do you know where your children are?" That public service announcement used send chills down my spine when I was a little kid. It sounded so ominous.
