I've never been strict paleo but definitely lean that way. I do eat carbs, but minimal amounts, do eat some refined sugar, etc. Otherwise, lots of lean protein, veggies, nuts & berries, and occasionally the still beating hearts of my enemies. For me it's a performance-based choice, as I find my paleo"esque" diet makes me feel generally lighter, faster, stronger, sharper. Everyone's different in that regard and I don't think any one nutrition plan is the be-all end-all, but this has worked for me the past couple years.
