Well pitched game, only the HR, gave up 5 hits and only 3 walks. Hoping for more of the same from the pitchers this weekend.
Rich "Goose" Gossage started out as a starting pitcher in MLB and became a great closer and is in the HOF for his exploits as a closer. Not that Neely is another Gossage but sometimes the path to greatness is not what you think it is. I am sure that Gossage wanted to be a starting pitcher but that wasn't his path. And he had a wicked amount of armside break and sink on his two seamer.
A must win that they got. I didn't watch the game, but seems like great pitching tonight. Now we need to figure out a way to win at least 2 vs. Kentucky.
We should have done that in basketball but only got the split. We used to own them in football but no longer. Time to start owning them in baseball.
Good win - excellent pitching tonight and no Coppola. - seeing Clemente and Neely late very interesting. - hitters did enough. Very encouraged with Shelnut with bunt and oppo double. Weekend Rotation: Guessing Pierce Liam Jac Question is how do you effectively utilize Clemente for best usage? Could easily be a starter. Love to see him as a 2 inning opener Friday and then be used again Sunday in long relief or to set up Neely.
Glad Sully remembered to tell the pitchers to give up fewer runs in a midweek game. He clearly wasn't doing that earlier in the season.
