Women hosting Stetson this afternoon....shouldn't be a huge struggle

UF takes the doubles point, little closer on couple of courts than I might like

Probably best I not comment on this coach and this program at the moment
Feel bad for Briggs who always fought so hard

Would love to know what the deal is with Rowinska......plays almost the entire season season in the 5 or 6 slot. As a freshman she had some nice success, won several and was super competitive in her losses (several 3 setter). Then with 2 matches in the regular season Spee gets inserted and Rowinska never plays another singles match. And Spee plays in the final 6 matches and never records a win. Rowinska still played some doubles so she must be healthy and in good standing.
Respect all that Coach has done in his career, but the program has been stagnant by UF standards for 7 years now.

I applaud you for hanging in and doing the updates…you know where I stand and have for years, if and when Stricklin finally wakes up and does something I’ll come back to it probably. Not that I have an ounce of faith in him…But until then it’s just not worth the frustration, I have much more productive things to do with my time.

I liked the strides the team made last year and the uptick in roster talent/recruiting. And I fully believed this year was the chance to at least return to the top 8 conversation.....huge experience on the roster and some young talent. But they started horribly, and while they played a very solid SEC seson they never really got over the hump. Guess some blame can be put on losing De Oliviera for pretty much all season, but 7 years of mediocrity at best is enough.

I feel this way about so many of our programs, but W. Tennis has probably been our best overall sport. Got it get it back on track.

dont know much about tennis, rely on others to tell me. Just said the decisions this coach makes are not very sound and have not been sound over the last like Apopka says 5 to 10 years or so. I have at least met him a few times and he is not too likeable to me, it is time to give him the Becky Burleigh

Won a natty 7 years ago....but have endured several program lows since ( granted the bar is high here). Roster management has been baffling at times....even a couple of years early on.
One thing you could historically count on was coaching....players getting better, solid doubles, development. Not sure we have seen as much of that lately. I did like the addition of Jeremy Bayon as asst coach, not sure there has been time for him to impact things significantly.
I know some that really like Coach T, I know some that really don't. A coach with multiple titles gets a good bit of leeway, but how much is enough

Who are you referencing? Brandi left 23 years ago so I assume you mean the assistants? I thought Balogh was a big loss, but thought Embree would pick right up....that didn't seem to work. As I said above, I think Bayon is a very high quality asst, although 1 year isn't enough to judge this tenure.

Bryan Shelton left to coach his son on men’s side. Agree some stability in women’s side. Need Assistants that can recruit more effectively. Best players not always best coaches.

Ah, this thread is on the womens team thus the confusion.
As for the mens team, Coach Shelton did a phenomenal job but his last year the talent was down and they struggled. Coach Steinberg (who retained the entire asst staff) had an insanely young team in his first season. Even with the youth, Steinberg's first team had a slightly better season than the year before under Shelton. So to suggest the staff isn't up to par is a huge reach at this point
