After two world wars and an extensive history of wars in Europe, perhaps they are realizing they over corrected after WWII when it comes to putting money, time, and energy into defense. Along with that is their realization that Uncle Sam may not always come through for them, and that could be a thing in a serious way as soon as January, 2025 if the GOP wins in November.

It is even more alarming how our propaganda clown suffers delusions and brings up casual talk that never actually occurred. Certainly not on this thread. As bad as being vaporized sounds, being completely delusional seems like it might be worse.

On the other hand, it might just be that the propaganda clown's Kremlin handler indicates that suggestions of nuclear war might distract the U.S. from providing military aid to Ukraine. That's the trouble with allowing Russia to succeed. You get to live in a constant state of dealing with Russia's threats and lies, which causes some to live in fear, with the simplest way of dealing with that fear being withdrawal and allowing Russia to take whatever they want.

Are we flirting with unimaginable ignorance?

It is stunning to me that out of all of Europe it’s the French with the best understanding of what is coming.

They were pretty close to ground zero in the last World War, and it didn't go so well for them.

I get what’s happening to you. Motivated by a deeply-engrained hatred for Russians, the chickenhawk that you are is fighting them vicariously through Ukrainians.

But you know that your side is being savaged, you’re unhinged and your nerves are shot.

Every response of yours is reduced to an infantile and petulant “I know you are but what am I ?”

The only thing I find stunning is the mounting hysteria.

It happens to a lot of countries. They are overconfident because they are (now) completely ready for the last war they were in, and refuse to acknowledge the possibility that the next war might be different. Russia is somewhat guilty of this, sending thousands of tanks to their destruction as they relive the glory of WWII. Of course, reality hits them a little harder when they are in denial that times have changed, and their military leadership isn't that bright to begin with. Ukraine is much smarter and quicker to change their tactics.

chemgator wants to use Ukraine as a tool to hurt Russia. Evidently he thinks hurting the Russian economy by sacrificing 750K Ukrainians is a good move.

Whenever chemgator calls another poster a "clown" he is projecting.

The idiocy of propagandists vanquished. Ratio of Russian: American tanks destroyed? About 5,000 (maybe 6,000) to 5. Let the howling and gnashing of teeth commence. The good news: the propagandist is about as right as a broken clock. The bad news: they're wrong 99.9% of the time. Pathetic. (Not to mention that these are stripped-down, 40-year-old U.S. tanks out of storage.)

You might have missed my point about the efficacy of walls.

At one time, France's "walls" would have been very effective at stopping an enemy advance. That time was long gone by the 1940's. However, the French still had absolute confidence in their walls, until they realized they were useless against a rapidly advancing army with modern tanks and fighting with a blitzkrieg approach.

EU has to step up. There is a good chance trump wins potus, and congress most likely split house and senate. Very good chance US aid will stop Jan/2025. EU has roughly 10 months to crank up their creaky war production - artillery shells. Ukraine support can’t stop like it did the last 6 mos without the US.

We’ve had a few posts on Abrams. Link below mentions tanks in general. Our latest aid package doesn’t include Abrams.

    But interesting quote…..

“ Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Russia’s heavy state investment into the military industrial complex has resulted in Russia producing more arms than it needs, with the surplus heading to warehouses rather than the front line. Pistorius suggested that Russia is preparing for a long war or could be thinking about expanding the conflict to include other countries.

“Now you can be naïve and say he (President Vladimir Putin) is doing it just out of caution,” Pistorius stressed. “As a sceptical person, I would say in this case that he’s doing it because he has [other] plans…”
