I have to say, I am very pleasantly surprised about how this game played out tonight. Georgia is a powerful offensive team and other than the walks, Rothrock was excellent. Defense was solid and the offense took advantage of most of their opportunities. Great way to start the weekend!!!
UGA looks to have pitched their #2 arm....maybe thinking they could steal the game tonight and have her to take the series tomorrow. Weird because USC didn't use Vawter last week in game 1 either
Great run rule win for the ladies. Especially after the midweek loss. Looking forward to the next two games!!
Winning this series would take some of the bad taste of losing to the nulls the way we did out of my mouth
The weight of the world must be off of Skylars chest after tonight’s game. I’m over the moon happy for her. Free passes are still concerning but Rothrock really fought back well. Loved the aggression on the bases also, need more of that!
Besides getting run ruled, this was a pretty embarrassing game for UGA. We often made them look stupid with our aggressive base running that caught them flat-footed and basically bewildered. When the new UGA pitcher came in and there was a double steal off her first pitch as the ball was thrown back to her, the look on her face was priceless, "Wait, ... what?" Hat's off to CTW for some good strategy.
This was old-time Florida softball. We were aggressive and were not taking unnecessary pitches. The base running was outstanding! My prediction about Sky was spot on. I foresaw her breakout in this series, and she certainly didn't disappoint. What a difference 2 days make. I do not know what coach(es) were psychologists on Thursday and today, but they did an outstanding job. We were relaxed and confident tonight. Wow! Keagan pitched an excellent game tonight. If she can limit her walks, she will be a lights-out pitcher. Go Gators!
Nice win for UF. I did wonder, though: why make Rothrock pitch the 5th inning when the game was well in hand?
Wanted to end it under the run rule for one thing. Also, she had been taken out early in her last 2 starts. Give her confidence by letting her finish the game.
It wasn't a criticism; it was a question. She's pitched a lot of innings this year. The post-season is looming. A freak injury would be devastating all the way around. Sheesh. Thanks, Ocala, for a reasonable answer.
I think as a whole it's best to not forecast everything from one game. When we lost Wednesday "we need new pitchers was out there" and discussion of what next year looks like. Can't blame many its an instant information what have you done for me this minute society now. Maybe it's best to enjoy watching and supporting the players? Yesterday was fun right? Today could be different........same players trying their best.
Walter's has actually been their best arm as of late. We were ready for her though. Backes and Kerpics are both spinny offspeed pitchers that we typically struggle with. Hope we can get over that hurdle and continue swinging it hot for Ava today.
