The USNWR ratings drop this past year was more due to a change in the rankings methodology. This year’s coming ranking is the one I fear. We will see in September.
But the Wall St Journal did rank UF as the number 1 public in the country this year. Their rankings are largely ROI based, and UF does a great job there with low tuition, high graduation rate and good post graduation salaries.

Desi saying Florida will not comply with Tiele IX. Sasse said oh chit, please tell me he didn't say that???...

DeSantis: Florida ‘will not comply’ with new Biden Title IX rules (msn.com)

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said Thursday his state “will not comply” with recently unveiled changes to Title IX by the Biden administration.
“Florida rejects [President Biden’s] attempt to rewrite Title IX,” DeSantis said in a video posted to the social platform X. “We will not comply, and we will fight back.”

“We are not gonna let Joe Biden try to inject men into women’s activities,” DeSantis continued. “We are not gonna let Joe Biden undermine the rights of parents, and we are not gonna let Joe Biden abuse his constitutional authority to try to impose these policies on us here in Florida.”
    ............
“As a condition of receiving federal funds, all federally funded schools are obligated to comply with these final regulations and we look forward to working with school communities all across the country to ensure the Title IX guarantee of nondiscrimination in school is every student’s experience.”
In a memo dated Thursday and shared with The Hill, Florida’s Commissioner of Education, Manny Diaz Jr., told school leaders that Florida “will fight” the changes to Title IX.

“Instead of implementing Congress’s clear directive to prevent discrimination based on biological sex, the Biden Administration maims the statute beyond recognition in an attempt to gaslight the country into believing that biological sex no longer has any meaning,” Diaz’s memo reads.

What 'womens activities' is he talking about? (Because its not sports here) Undermine the rights of parents? College are students are adults! Lots to unpack invoking parents rights there. But the bigotry us obvious. It was always about that.

I don’t think sasse really has a choice here. the final penalty for non-compliance with these regulations is the withdrawal of federal funds, including student loans.

That is basically the end for a major university unless the state is going to fund student loans.

Really what this means is DeSantis will call the lawyers to sue at taxpayer expense, look for a friendly court to try to block it

or the feds have to sue UF for violating the new rules. I'm sure kicking someone out isn't an easy process.

Good for Desantis for standing up for female collegiate athletes. I hope he and the other governors win the battle against the overly progressive changes.

Is that all the change is about? I agree that transgender athletes should not compete in women's sports

No. But it's an unacceptable part of it. Do you think Biden will remove that part? No. So.. gotta fight it. And liberals wonder why Trump can win the presidency. Can't get out of their own way.

No need for them to sue. They can just strip UF of federal funds.
Biden's Title IX policy doesn't prevent athletic associations from making rules aimed at achieving competitive fairness. Biden's Title IX policy also faithfully implements Supreme Court precedent.

Can you point me to the offensive language that ensures that Trans get to compete in women's sports? Is it required, promoted, or just allowed? I honestly don't know

Does this mean that trans must be accepted onto women's teams and into women's locker rooms? That would be a stupid choice

Their previous support for trans on women's teams and refusal to answer the questioning now isn't good and will cost the dems moderate swing voters. Trans on women's teams is just wrong

LGBTQ+ students will be guaranteed protection under the law if they are discriminated against for their gender identity or sexual orientation

Read to the bottom. It doesn't address sports. Gender identity discrimination is already prohibited under Title IX, though. It is interpreted consistently with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Bostock ruled that sex discrimination includes discrimination on the basis of gender identity.

So you believe that trans should be on women's teams and in their locker rooms? That is a losing vote for the dems by a wide margin. There is a line and that is well across it

I believe excluding transgender people from women's sports team purely because they are transgender is illegal. You need to have some basis that isn't "trans people are scary" or "trans people are icky."
