Probably not, but, RBs do get hurt. Good to have that backup in the room. But, I get your point. No one sticks around for long without PT anymore.

Here we go again with the oddly specific 30+ yard run stat. So, let me be oddly specific in TD run distance...

    Johnson TD runs:
    2 yds v McNeese
    8 yds v McNeese
    4 yds v UT
    7 yds v Vandy
    5 yds vs FSU
Avg 5.2 yards per TD run

    ETN TD runs:
    8 yds v McNeese
    62 yds v UT
    3 yds vs USC
    26 yds vs Ark
    7 yds vs LSU
    21 yds vs LSU
    5 yds vs LSU
    9 yds vs Mizzou

Avg 17.6 yards per TD run

I'm sure I'll be labeled a hater for presenting information, but to me explosive includes scoring.

Ok, So in the 2 seasons here at UF for both Trell and ETN which one has more rushing TD'S? I'll wait if you want to double check.

"Explosive plays" (which is what I was talking about) in football are defined by any rush over 10 yards. Having only 3 total TD runs in his college career that made it past 10 yards does not equate to a "Home Run back"

nah, not labeling a hater, we just saying that the notion that ETN was explosive while Trell was a Jerome Bettis status back in comparison isn’t supported by the numbers on runs on 30+ yards

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know ETN was more the home run threat and Montrell was more the workhorse. Some need to rationalize stuff to make the situation better, but fact is ETN is bait and we need to move on. Napier didn’t value him enough to overpay for him and it seems like he made the right the call.

All I know is ETN is gone, not a Gator, wanted to go elsewhere. I don't blame him for leaving and I'm sure his lack of blocking wasn't all there is to it. But he's a dirty dog now with intentions and aspirations of embarrassing our team. Go Montrell, Go Gators.

    OK, lets add 2022

    Johnson:
    14 yds v Utah
    62 yds v USF
    5 yds v UT
    3 yds v EWU
    3 yds v Mizzou
    39 yds v LSU
    3 yds v LSU
    5 yds v aTm
    8 yds v USC
    1 yds v FSU
    2022 Average 14.3
Total 15 TD's with average 11.3 yards per

    ETN:
    11 yds v UK
    2 yds v USF
    1 yds v LSU
    3 yds v UGA
    85 yds v USC
    45 yds v FSU
    2022 Average 24.3
Total 14 Td's with average 20.6 yards per

1 more TD with 307 carries vs 249, that would be TD per rush of 20.5 Montrell vs 17.8 ETN.

Saying ETN was more explosive is not a slight on Montrell Johnson. If I were to say AR was a more explosive runner than Tebow, am I insulting Tebow?

Hope so. If he has a good summer and fall camp may be an x factor for us.

    Dare to dream.

Avg TD run length as a metric is pretty dubious stat for me to compare rbs. Short td runs to cap off drives are as critical as breaking a long run. Sure, would love to have the td run happen earlier in the drives but sometimes it has nothing to do with the RB. The sample size really isn't that large.

Trell is the better short yardage rb so was used closer to the GL more often than ETN. One would figure he'd have more shorter tds which would reduce avg td run length.

Absolutely. 3rd and goal at the 2, give me Montrell. As I said, not a slight, every player has strengths and weaknesses.

Nunnery looked good in the spring game and at this stage with both of the freshman lbs yet to show they are ready for fall, I too don't like losing him for depth purposes

With his parting words, I’d guess he was shown the door. Might be for attitude more than on the field. His talent defy doesn’t warrrant keeping that attitude.

He didn’t say that. He specifically said he wasn’t referring to UF staff. Colorado has already lost 21. He said 10 -30% nationwide.

    Long time coming.

He has some talent, but somehow he has to gain weight.
