If lawyers can figure out how to get OJ off, they can figure out how to kick a gator off the team for playing in Tallahassee.
Agreed that the methodology is really dumb, but the employee model is far from perfect to since each institution would be the employer and employment rules vary from State to State. Some might be considered to be more favorable to the player so no level playing field. While we are on this slippery slope, we might as well consider the need for the players to be students at all. The schools could just hire the best athletes available, pay them to play, for as many years as they are effective until the next flavor of the month comes along.
It does, but I don't think any of those esteemed institutions require their players to be students with some eligibility criteria.
That’s just one more layer of rules. The point is it can be done, but do they have the desire to move that direction when they can get the fans to not only pay for the tickets but also pay for the payroll
I know you know the answer to that.....the major Universities will cling to the fan funding model until they pry their cold, dead fingers from it.
