Maybe Jackson this year. The full back for Urbs? There’s one once in a while.

Being a disciplined route runner, learning how to separate, improving hands, gaining strength and improving quickness and speed can absolutely be developed. He has the coaches attention, so we will see if he can do anything with it or not.

He’s not though. You’re saying that from the orange and blue game but this isn’t his first year here. It’s just a spring game lol. It’s his fourth year on campus! Youre making me shit on this kid because you guys have very unrealistic expectation lol

You aren’t waiting for anything. Your first comment, which started this entire convo between us, was saying “he makes plays, hope he gets his chance”. You aren’t waiting to see lol you literally are saying he’s a playmaker based on 2 catches in a spring game in his 4th year

Nope, I’m hoping he gets a chance to prove one way or the other. It’s a longshot.

Why would you hope a walk on gets a chance to show that he doesn’t suck though?

Nothing wrong in routing for an underdog. Just as long as you are being realistic.

But my entire premise is that if he gets a shot that means the others aren’t pulling their weight, and that’s a major problem.

That is the major problem. Why did a walk-on get 3 catches and a TD and out perform all of our 4 star wide receivers? People just want it to mean something positive and not negative.

Our staff is actively looking at adding a portal WR. That tells us the room isn’t as talented as they would like.

I was really glad Doering took away the (2) Jacksons, Ike and Reidel's shots, or they wouldn’t have been able to get good at being a WR at UF.

Although technically not a walk-on, Ladd Mcconkey was an unheralded 3 star wide receiver who was getting no attention from any major program until a few weeks before signing day, then Georgia got him.

From an si.com article... "but if that's too much work, you could always just ask Kirby Smart how a 6-foot-nothin' three-star beat out a bunch of four and five-stars for playing time the past few years"

Seems like the same question you both have, and it's not a problem... It just means that Spierto was under the radar and is now coming into his own. We are not the first team who had a promising walk on compete for playing time.

Why wouldn’t I. He didn’t steal my girlfriend or anything. He’s a gator and I hope they all do big things.

True, I remember the years that walk on Chris Doering played here. All the other receivers like Reidel Anthony , Ike Hilliard, Jacquez Green and Travis McGriff must not have been pulling their weight.

Pretty Ricky, low 3 star, is now a first round draft pick in the NFL.

I thought Spierto looked like freaking Pearsall in the Spring Game! Yup, sure hope he gets a shot.

Look at who you’re comparing Spierto to. Be objective, please. “We had a really, really good walk on 40 years ago so now I hope every walk on gets a legit chance, (at the expense of everybody else we spend tons of effort/money/time recruiting) because he COULD be the next Doering” - this board, apparently.
Yes but you cannot possibly not understand that if Spierto is getting a shot it means the coaches think he deserves to be on the field more than our other recruits….. which is a much bigger problem (that our recruits are not panning out)…so we are back to square one of my argument. What I am saying cannot possibly be as difficult to understand as you guys are making it out to be.

You’re the one that’s confused. Sometimes walkons are just good. The other players are totally irrelevant.Trask almost never got a chance and when he I did, I think we were all surprised when he put up possibly the best offensive season in our history. I thought he was better than Franks but had no idea he would make a run at the Heisman. Nobody predicts him being our breakout offensive player of the year but it could happen.

Maybe you are new to Florida football. I really have no idea. That said Florida has had more than one good walk on 40 years ago.
