I love it. I always embraced being a total nerd. Story to get the thread close to back on track.

In 1989 I participated in processing the Iridium shielding for the Cassini space mission. Actually put hands (with gloves of course) on the metal pieces that went into the satellite.

In 1997, while visiting family in Florida, I drove to Cape Canaveral to see Cassini launch aboard the Titan IVB rocket.

In 2016, I watched the NASA feed of the end of Cassini as they flew it into a decaying orbit over Saturn where it crashed.

Literally something that I handled in my youth is sitting out on Saturn as I type this. That is truly Nerdly-Cool.

Consequently, I under just the tiniest bit of the pride that the team that designed, built and launched Voyager (at least those still with us) must feel knowing their creation is still out there, sending data back to earth once again, more than 47 years after her launch!!

    My "personal" NASA stories:

Uncle worked on the lunar module development as a construction manager.
Same Uncle worked on one of the space shuttle launch pad systems.

I worked on several NASA projects (Building Construction) including:
    The Cape, Florida
    Redstone Arsenal, Alabama
    Kessler AFB, MS
    (never made Houston however)
