Hmmm. Are you saying that Spurs got boos in 1995 and thus departed after 2001 season. That would be 1995, the season we played for NC. Then SOS coached UF in 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, and 01 to total another 6 seasons. If so, he sure was slow in walking away due to 1995 boos.

From my memory while SOS coached UF the boos were directed at the refs for some absurd calls like "simulating the snap" or scoring too much on UT.

There was no booing in the years leading up to and including the national championship season 1996. What would have been the reason to boo when you’re winning 4 consecutive SEC championships in a row after going ~60 years without one? Then back to back national championship games, winning it all in 96 — only a moron would have booed during those years of essentially getting better every season?

People expected more NCs after 96 and didn’t get them. That’s when booing got to SOS. Undoubtedly he was frustrated as hell too. Still bad to boo your team

We laid some eggs the last few years. The red rooster game. The SEC title game against Bama. Auburn with Rex. They were always costly losses as we were always in contention for SEC and national title contention. I don't remember boos but there was some vocal complaining by fans.

I'll never blame his leaving on them though. He was unhappy with the UA and he was always flirting with the NFL itch. Maybe he would have stayed a few years more if things were a bit different but spurrier was always going to try his offense in the NFL someday.

Those coaches you speak of are far and few between and usually already have a job.

I think a lot more of the casual fans come out of the closet when you start winning also. Those are the dip shits with the big mouths.

I do remember him saying something to the affect of fans not being happy with winning ten games or something like that. Foley not backing him up, sure that too. Wanting to try the nfl…. Yep. All probably played a part.

So we just fire Napier and ask Saban to come out of retirement? That’s too easy. Sign him up.

There’s way less here than other places online. Gameday at the Swamp doesn’t seem to have near the amount of dipshits.

    What are they?

When I look at the football staff, Chris Couch is still the Game Changer Coordinator. The only "change" is adding another layer of analyst: Joe Houston as the new Senior Analyst for Special Teams. I don't mean to nitpick, but that's one change; not multiple changes.

They still don't have an on-field coach and there's no indication at all that anything is actually being done differently in the approach to preparing them. (Exhibit 1: the recent O&B game.)

That's why I can't understand it. Honest question for you: can you tell me what the other changes are?

Please go back and read my statement carefully. I said it started in 95’, not that the 95’ booing was the reason six years later. That quote though was indeed from the 95’ season. The boo birds reappeared later in his tenure when fans became unimpressed with 10 win seasons. I’ve attached a dated article for you to reference. He was not pleased with our fans, our administrators, nor the SEC offices at the time of his departure.

Spurrier has words for "spoiled" fans

I know, but others reading behind me that may have forgotten Spurs comments, could have their memories jogged. Those on the extremes of either side of life will always exist, my goal is to keep truth out there to minimize the impact of fallacy.

Actually he didn't say that ST didn't need changing and he made a change with an analyst.

Also, is CBN dumb for not having a dedicated on field ST coach and divides up responsibilities? If so, was it stupid of Spurrier (abd Kirby Smart) to divide up the responsibilities among his coaches for most of his years as a coach? He rarely used an on field spot for ST, and if he did it was someone who could help on offense or defense roles.

We arguably lost two games last season to STs miscues. It would seem to be a priority. Can an analyst be on field for practices, drilling with STs units, or are they on their own? Difficult to imagine the units that comprise STs don't have continuous instruction. We'll see how it goes.
