Are they close in mpg? Generally a vehicle that promotes mpg is more libbie. For example, the old H2 Humvees really p/o the libs.

A tahoe is more comparable to the wagoneer. I have a 2022 grand wagoneer series 2 and a 2024 expedition. The wagoneer has all the bells and whistles except night vision and is the more luxurious of the 2. I actually prefer the expedition but I'm partial to Ford since my daily driver is a F350 dually.

Jeep is one of several brands I’d never buy due to the shit reliability. Might as well light a pile of money on fire.

Had a GMC Yukon back in the day, it was surprisingly trouble free. Put ~120k miles on it.

 

Oh, there are many stories I could tell, but I'll tell just 1. 1994, Jeep Cherokee country. It had lots of issues with chronic overheating a primary 1. Was livin' in St. Louis. Fixin' to take a 2 week trip to Colo. Took it in for the nth time for an overheating problem. to the dealership. Picked it up on Fri, after it sat there for 2 weeks. Got to about Columbia & boom it started overheating. Headed home. Called the dealership. They said our service dept is not open on the weekend, but another Jeep dealer was. Called them explained that after 2 weeks it was still overheating & we had reserved accommodations for vaca, etc. They said, we could get in the BACK OF THE LINE & it would probably be 2 weeks before they could look at it.

Took it to Gleb (yep, still 'member his name. E. European dude) that very day. Despite being very busy, he was sympathetic, took a look & fixed it. $16!!! & about 10 mins. He said, the radiator cap was not holding pressure & he replaced it. There was more BS assoc with this story when I got back from vaca & tried to get my money back.....

 

I would get the Suburban. The biggest problems with anything Stellantis is the quality variation. I know two people with Rams that put almost and over 300K miles on them with only tires and brakes being replaced. I also know two people who had Jeeps replaced under Lemon Law. When you get a good one it will last , but most are not good.

GM V8s and power trains in general are very reliable if maintained well. They have made significant upgrades over the years in the reliability of their electronics. They’re not Toyota or Honda, but neither of those offer large SUVs anymore.

If you really want to anger the libs get a GMC Yukon Denali, the longer one of course. That 6.2L is a sweet engine.

We almost had both. My suburban is a 3 years old. Runs Great. Cool features. Kids love the massive space. My only beef is they all have the new engine ‘feature’ of dropping down to a 4 cylinder on flat roads. problems are works for about 4 seconds thus no savings in fuel and people that have had the car longer term is the engine life has been cut in half from 300,000 miles to about 150,000 because of the shifting from 8-4-8. Wife was looking at that wagoneer. Super nice on inside, massaging seats and priced better than the x7 or GLS450. End of day we decided on new windows for house instead. She works mostly from home and her Volvo is still nice and paid off
