Let’s not forget that the so called “bar” to which you brought me barely had any Asian masseuses, and the heroin prices were ridiculous! The service was pretty good though. The owner sat with me the whole time. It was like he had no other job.

I appreciate the kind words from both you and @Orange_and_Bluke. This has been a very humbling thread.

I want to second your take here, Ora, that the tone of the post really matters. Of course there are a few that will be rude regardless of how they are treated, but most people on here respond to how they feel they were treated. When someone attacks, it’s usually because they felt attacked. And often they were attacked because the other poster felt attacked. And somehow both are often right!

It’s not always easy, but I’ve been making a real effort to try not to escalate that aggressive spiral, even when I feel justified in doing so. First, the people on here are mostly good people who deserve respect, even if they see the world differently than I do. But also I think this effort led to better interactions.

 

Hey, I am quite humorous and give good company when I drink. At least, I poll really high when I poll myself while drunk.

Grew up playing basketball with Rade. Was a good kid back then. Not surprised at the person he seems to be on this forum as an adult given our little circle of basketball friends. Three of us in particular played endless hours of basketball at a neighborhood court and I was the least intelligent of the group. Pleased to see his reasoned and open minded takes on this forum.

In turn Bluke, I thank you for your gracious and civil response to my acerbic reply directed towards you up thread. You did not upset me and you and I have previously expressed our disagreement over your, and other's, propensity to respond to offensive posts with worsening acrimony. It's an issue we may never see eye to eye.

To add for clarity, immediately before reading the post that I paraphrased and you made your reply, I had responded off thread to a political moderate who was irate over your continual propensity to issue "come on man's" and other negative ratings on other threads that appear to be spiteful and too frequent to be thought unintentional. I can't see entertainment value in that sort of activity. This forum entertains me in how it engages my mind, stimulating my thinking processes.

And for further clarity when I posted earlier today I was a little tense and anxious, in the middle of preparing to leave for the hospital to have a routine 4 times a year stent replacement out-patient surgery. It was 22nd in the past 5 years, routine and all went well.

The direction the thread took is a good one and I appreciate all the responses. And Bluke, I add the following to your most especially appropriate and perfect comments about Rade's and ora's humility. They are both treasure assets to the forum.

IMHO…My ratings are my fun way to stay engaged. I do not always enjoy searching for links to prove or disprove a point. But I do enjoy reading posts and trying to understand what’s happening around the world through the TH lens.
My ratings are 99% intentional and thoughtful as crazy as that may sound.
People who block me and I see their posts…they get come on man…just for blocking me.
