Men with an outside but unlikely shot to host if they go deep (also unlikely). Facing Vandy....UF the 7 vs 10 seed. Awful in doubles, get waxed. Strong start in singles and claim wins on courts 3,4,5....Jin get demolished on court 1. Score 3-2 UF Kim at 2 and Edegren at 6 in their 3rd sets, both up a break. UF should be ok but Tennessee likely ends any run tomorrow Women play tomorrow morning as the 3 seed vs USC. They just beat USC 4-2 last weekend, didn't play particularly well IMO so this isn't a slam dunk. They should be fine to host a regional but they would be well served to move up for seeding purposes/matchups. I thought going in this was a top 8 type team, they haven't played to that level but have gotten in that conversation thru the conference season.
Kim was serving and had match points but couldn't convert and serve is broken...still leads 5-3. Edengren up 3-1
Jin closes it out 6-4. Edengren was up 5-1 and about to win as well, he has been very good last few weeks. Great singles, really poor doubles. Tomorrow is a day to see how they comepete and measure up to a superior opponent. UT beat UF 6-1 in Knoxville....but most of the singles matches were competitive and UF played without Gannesan so 3,4,5 all played up a spot on the ladder
Women vs USC.....at UGA and somehow neither live stats or streaming are working, almost like UF quality UF takes the doubles point with easy wins at 2 and 3, USC was about to win on 1. 1-0 UF
Middle of first sets in singles. Gailis at 1 and Dahlstrom at 2 are up a break, everyone else on serve.
Gailis takes her first set Dahlstrom implodes and loses hers Briggs takes hers 7-5 Dudeney loses hers and already down a break in 2nd.....disappointing season for her Lopez wins her first set Spee in a tiebreak. Unsure why they have not gone with Rowinska, she was clearly better than Spee at end of season
Spee has multiple set points but eventually loses TB 12-10 Both teams claim 3 first sets Second sets all close except Briggs up a break in hers
Gailis loses her set and headed to three Dahlstrom down a set and trails 3-4 Briggs takes her match with a bagel second set, 2-0 UF Dudeney loses in straight sets , 2-1 UF Lopez loses her second set and headed to three Spee down a set but up two breaks in second Going to take a couple of 3rd set wins
Dahstrom loses 5 and 5, Dudeney loses 4 and 4....really need more from such experienced players. Especially Dudeney playing at 4 when she has played much higher during her career Match now 2-2 Gailis up 4-1, Lopez at 2-2 Spee has blown her second set lead and at 4-4 Very much in danger of losing a match they can't lose
Spee done....NO idea why Rowinska wasn't out there Lopez at 3-3 I will say this, USC is insanely experienced. #1 is a Jr, #2 is a grad student, #3 is a grad student, #4 is a grad student, #5 is a Jr, #6 is a JR
Lopez breaks for 4-3, need to hold here....of course holding serve in college women isn't always common
Lopez holds and wins 4 straight games and the match.....impressive showing for the freshman. Likely TAMU tommorow.....big match IMO. Lost 4-3 in College station early in the season. Lost the doubles point, Gailis lost a heartbreaker, Rowinska lost but was new to the lineup, Briggs lost at 2. Play just a little better and they can win this match. Hosting a regional seems locked up now, but improving their seed is still crucial. Top 8 probably requires winning the tourney if its even possible, but win the TAMU match and they should be up around 11-12
Wow, just looked at the first set stats. Quite a beat down. Looked like we only won 1 first set and most weren't close.
Yeah, they were getting blitzed. Have shown fight of late, but it likely won't be enough Jin down a set and 3-3 in second Kim down a set up 5-4 in second Nate down a set up 5-2 in second Ganesan down a set and down 2-5 Nirundorn up a set and down 2-4 Edengren down a set and up 2-1
Kim loses 5-7....Vols up 3-0 Jin is at 5-5 Nate up 2-1 in 3rd set Nirundorn one game from winning his match Edengren 3-3 All second sets were competitive except Ganesan.
