Have to agree with OP on this subject; transgenderism is the root of and cause for gun violence and mass shootings in America.

Since we can't outlaw transgenderism, what do you propose the best solution is, OP? More guns? That usually works. It has so far....

Actually, reading the article I don’t think “school shooting thwarted” is the correct framing. The article seems to suggest it’s based on his writings, but he didn’t take any concrete steps to carry out the crime (such as acquiring weapons). So nothing was really “thwarted”.

If it’s based on what he claims is a work of fiction, and he didn’t take any steps to carry it out, or even call in any specific threats, it may even be difficult to charge this as a crime. Although I think it’s an obvious case of mental illness and this kid should be institutionalized for awhile, not all states would even stop him from acquiring guns once the mental illness aspect is adjudicated. Think about that.

From what I can tell from just reading the articles she fits the profile of a lot of the school shooters. As far as the gang shootings and such they count them as mass shooting to run up the stats to scare people into passing gun grabbing laws. The gang banger shootings and killings will be here as long as we have the poverty and public housing.

Yeah, I don't know what I'm going to do if the govt grabs one more of my guns.
    Talk about fear mongering.

Two of the top three threads on TH right now are trans threads started by you.

    That seems weird.

I think that is how we hope the system operates. You identify potential threats before they turn into actual violence.

    There are states where he can by a rifle at age 18.;
They may not have grabbed any of your guns "yet" but it was not for lack of trying. I guess you don't live in a state where a gun or magazine you own has become illegal. That has happened to other people even though it may not have happened to you or me yet. I am not against all laws concerning guns but some that have been tried and are still being proposed go to far in my opinion. The people that are trying to pass man of they gun laws are the ones that use fear mongering.

You used the term gun grab, that is a fear mongering term used by the NRA and gun manufacturers to get rubes to buy more guns.
All I have seen is laws getting substantially more lax. Hell, I can now carry in a bar and I don't even need training or a permit to do so. Can also carry in church, thank God. (See what I did there?)

Please. In most places one can buy an AR-15 before they can buy a beer. And no training is required.

In many places college kids will be able to open carry to the bars, with zero training or certification. Sounds like a brilliant idea to me!

More places are easing the requirements to sell firearms than the opposite. As in, such as ceasing private sales be subject to background checks. If they were in the first place, in that location.

But you're worried about your gun rights being infringed upon ?! Absurd.

But the important thing is that those who so desire can now shift to worrying more about trans than guns.

I'm not sure I 'hope' we start arresting more people for what amounts to thought crimes, I'd hope someone who might be troubled who hasnt done anything yet might get some of the counseling and mental health services people always talk about before we arrest them and subject them to criminality.

Puh leeze. I own a firearm myself. Peeps not being inconvenienced takes precedence over kids and others being slaughtered in public places apparently. Priorities......

You’re right. Let’s just wait and see what happens with these types.

That's kind of how freedom works you know. You arent a criminal until you actually do crime. Pretty much the basis of common law! And counseling and mental health services arent just "waiting to see what happens" - thats definitely an intervention to try to prevent something bad from happening.
