Republican US Senate Candidate Tim Sheehy Won't Stop Lying About Being Shot.

Sheehy is the Republican nominee in Montana to run against incumbent Democrat Jon Tester in November. He was hand selected and recruited by the GOP to run.

Sheehy, a former US Navy Seal, was shot. That part seems to be true. What he is struggling mightily with is where, when and by whom.

His initial story was he was shot in 2015 in Glazier National Park due to an accidental discharge when he dropped his Colt .45 pistol.

He apparently decided he needed to spice that story up a bit and recently told the Washington Post he was actually shot in Afghanistan in 2012 and that he had lied about the Glacier park thing. He said he wasn't sure if he was shot in Afghanistan by enemy or friendly fire and didn't want to cause his former unit any problems. You know, protect his brothers in arms and all.

Now, I frequently have clients that want to lie in court. I always discourage that as I am ethically required to do and tell them "It is morally wrong and illegal to lie under oath...it is also brain-dead stupid to do so if there is proof you are lying."

Senator Wannabe Leehy never got that memo. The Post served a FOIA request on the park and the following written statement by Leehy in 2015 was provided by the park in response.:

"As a highly trained and combat experienced wounded veteran, I can assure you this was an unfortunate accident and we are grateful no other persons or property were damaged," he said at the time. "Due to my ongoing security clearance and involvement with national defense related contracts, I request leniency with any charges related to this unfortunate accident."

"Sheehy in his 2015 National Park Service statement said that he retained a weapon in his car in case a bear posed a threat, adding that his firearm fell to the ground as he reloaded the vehicle."

"My deepest apologies for any inconvenience this incident caused," he said in the statement at the time."

Making some stupid comment about someone who served our country and later died from brain cancer as a result of that service is a new low, even for you.
