I personally know of a kid who I have seen work out. He played on our high school division Let It Fly flag football team earlier this year. He is a total stud that is basically flying under the radar. He's on a loaded Jax Sandalwood HS team and is a commit to Charlie Strong at UL.

He's got great hands. Can stretch the field. Great body positioning on jump balls. Deceptively fast. Great wing span. Has the frame to add 10-15 lbs which would make him a beast.

He's a 4* now and I'd say he will be a 5* by the end of his Sr year.

Anybody know if we are recruiting him? And if so, how it might be going?

2012: 36 receptions for 671 yards and 10 touchdowns.

CBS News) The FBI was involved in what it called a "violent confrontation" in Orlando, Fla., early Wednesday that killed a Chechen man with ties to the older brother suspected in last month's deadly terrorist bombing at the Boston Marathon.

CBS News senior correspondent John Miller, a former FBI assistant director, reported on "CBS This Morning" that the man, Ibragim Todashev, was friends with Tamerlan Tsarnaev, a suspect in the attack that killed three people and injured more than 260 others.

The FBI has not commented on the relationship between Todashev and Tsarnaev but confirmed that Todashev died in the shootout. Miller reports that, like Tsarnaev, who was once a boxer, Todashev was a mixed-martial-arts fighter.

In a statement Wednesday, the FBI didn't refer to Todashev by name but said that the individual who died was being interviewed in connection with the investigation into the April 15 attack. An FBI special agent was accompanied by two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law-enforcement officers to interview Todashev in the apartment complex where he lived.

"In the encounter in the apartment, something went wrong," Miller said.

The FBI said that the interview subject initiated "a violent confrontation." The FBI said the agent "sustained non-life-threatening injuries" during the confrontation and was involved in the shooting but didn't provide any other details.

An official told CBS News that Todashev came at the agent with a knife.

Seriously, for you lawyers out there, the 5th Amendment states:

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime.."

So tell me why can she take the 5th if she does not believe she may likely have commited a crime?

What if Congressman simply said to her: "I grant you immunity from prosecution specifically regarding this matter. Now will you testify? And if you claim you did not commit a crime, under your oath then, by refusing to testify are you not admitting to perjury, a crime? Logically, you either committed a crime or you did not? Which is it?"

The photo in the Tampa papers showed about 1-2 dozen folks, mostly middle aged women, carrying signs and posters across the street from the IRS office, waving them as cars went by.
The group looked more like a Garden Club show.
Did the Local police show up? No.
Was one local cop car parked there? No.

Just an editorial in the Washington Post by a "Vanessa Williams." Is it that Vanessa Williams? I don't think so, but it could be.

Had some comments in here I thought were interesting. It appears some blacks in America are disappointed with Obama's "lecturing" of the black community.

Quote:

During the speech, Obama admonished black men to take care of their families and their communities and told the graduates that despite the lingering legacies of slavery and discrimination, “we’ve got no time for excuses.” Obama also used the occasion to talk about his own life, touching on the fact that he was raised by a single mother and that growing up he sometimes blamed some of his bad choices on “the world trying to keep a black man down.”

The half-hour speech in Atlanta drew a rousing response from those who had sat in pouring rain waiting for the president to speak.

Coleman, a former speechwriter for former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm, said that although parts of the talk were strong and lofty, including passages honoring Morehouse graduate Martin Luther King Jr., he was disappointed that Obama almost always defaults to the clean-up-your-act message when talking to predominantly black audiences. First lady Michelle Obama issued a similar tongue-lashing last week at Bowie State University’s commencement ceremony. She told graduates at the historically black Maryland school that too many young people are “fantasizing about being a baller or a rapper.”

“The first couple of times, it was okay, but I and a lot of other people are beginning to grow weary of it,” said Coleman, adding that the message was particularly galling at Sunday’s event at the historically black Georgia school. “What made it so gratuitous was this was Morehouse College! In the African American community, the very definition of a Morehouse man is someone who is a leader, who is taught to go out and make a difference in his community.” (The White House declined comment.)

Obama has been making this point — and stirring controversy — since he was a candidate in 2008. Jesse Jackson Sr. was incensed by what he saw as Obama’s “talking down to black people,” yet it was Jackson who was criticized. Many in the black community believed that Obama’s chastisements were necessary to make himself politically palatable to white voters.

Liberal bloggers were brimming with praise for Obama after the Morehouse speech. “It’s the legacy of Daniel Patrick Moynihan and that whole group of white liberals who want to say it’s not just about structural problems that black people aren’t doing well, it’s about their own values.
Trevor Coleman thinks it’s time for President Obama to get a new speech for black audiences. The personal responsibility finger-wagging, delivered most recently Sunday at Morehouse College’s commencement, is getting old.

Obama has been making this point — and stirring controversy — since he was a candidate in 2008. Jesse Jackson Sr. was incensed by what he saw as Obama’s “talking down to black people,” yet it was Jackson who was criticized. ... The president’s most recent such remarks — there were only a few Sunday, but they were widely reported — triggered a debate on blogs and social media that, in part, asked why Obama continued his lecturing.

Leola Johnson, an associate professor and chair of the Media and Cultural Studies Department at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., said the Obamas’ speeches are actually not aimed at black people. “They’re actually for white people, liberals especially,” she said. Liberal bloggers were brimming with praise for Obama after the Morehouse speech. “It’s the legacy of Daniel Patrick Moynihan and that whole group of white liberals who want to say it’s not just about structural problems that black people aren’t doing well, it’s about their own values.”
...

The Morehouse speech offered an instance of Obama discussing race, a topic he has been criticized for avoiding given his unique vantage point as the country’s first African American president. Some African Americans have been disappointed at Obama’s frequent refrain that he is president of all Americans when asked why he hasn’t specifically addressed problems that afflict many black communities, including chronic unemployment and failing schools. On this front, A. Scott Bolden, a Washington lawyer and Morehouse graduate...offered [a] finger-wagging lecture of [his] own:

“It’s interesting that President Obama is always asking black people to take responsibility for themselves,” Bolden said. “It would be really nice if he’d take responsibility for black people in his second term.”

So...0bama should stop telling black people to take responsibility for themselves, because he is the one who should be taking responsibility for them. And with him being the President, that means of course that the government should take responsibility for them.

"Wow. Just...wow." ©DaveFla

Not an impressive message from these particular voices in the African American community, in my opinion. I welcome yours.

Speedy Noil scouting report: Explosive 2014 wide receiver

Name: Devante "Speedy" Noil

School and hometown: Ednar Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana

Position: Wide receiver

Height and weight: 5'11 and 175 pounds

Ratings: A consensus four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings, 247Sports has Noil as a five-star prospect. He's the no. 55 player nationally in the former rankings, as well as the no. 5 wide receiver and no. 6 player in state of Louisiana.

Offers: The Edna Karr product has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.

Scouting Report:

A big play waiting to happen who often spent time at quarterback as a junior, Noil projects as a slot wide receiver in college who has the potential to score from anywhere on the field. Physically, he's on the small size in terms of pure height and weight, but he has a sturdy frame that should be able to remain durable in college because he is hardly slight.

A member of Karr's nationally-elite 400m relay team and an excellent long and triple jumper, Noil is a superlative athlete who has the speed to cut all the back across the field and still make plays, a practice he may have to tone down a bit in college.

As a receiver, his speed off the ball makes him a dangerous threat, especially when projecting him in the slot where he will have a two-way go against opposing defensive backs, which will make it difficult to defend him in man coverage without a safety highly aware of his presence.

He appears to be most effective on post routes and deep comebacks in high school as a result of his speed. Because of his acceleration and feet, he also projects favorably in college as someone who can get open on double moves. A lack of experience at wide receiver means that Noil will need to spend some time working on the craft of route running at the next level.

When Noil has the ball in his hands and can find a crease, his first step explosiveness and top-end speed are elite -- even if college there may be only be a few defensive players in the country who will be able to catch him from behind with an angle.

An elusive player who with remarkable lateral quickness, Noil can also cut in the open field without losing much, if any, speed, a big part of the reason why 247Sports has him ranked as the top wide receiver in the country.

Article examines the differences between French and American child-rearing...and explores the differences between why French kids suffer from ADHD at much lower levels than American kids.

Raises some excellent points for discussion that we should consider.

Quote:

In the United States, at least 9% of school-aged children have been diagnosed with ADHD, and are taking pharmaceutical medications. In France, the percentage of kids diagnosed and medicated for ADHD is less than .5%. How come the epidemic of ADHD—which has become firmly established in the United States—has almost completely passed over children in France?

Is ADHD a biological-neurological disorder? Surprisingly, the answer to this question depends on whether you live in France or in the United States. In the United States, child psychiatrists consider ADHD to be a biological disorder with biological causes. The preferred treatment is also biological--psycho stimulant medications such as Ritalin and Adderall.

French child psychiatrists, on the other hand, view ADHD as a medical condition that has psycho-social and situational causes. Instead of treating children's focusing and behavioral problems with drugs, French doctors prefer to look for the underlying issue that is causing the child distress—not in the child's brain but in the child's social context. They then choose to treat the underlying social context problem with psychotherapy or family counseling. This is a very different way of seeing things from the American tendency to attribute all symptoms to a biological dysfunction such as a chemical imbalance in the child's brain.

As a therapist who works with children, it makes perfect sense to me that French children don't need medications to control their behavior because they learn self-control early in their lives. The children grow up in families in which the rules are well-understood, and a clear family hierarchy is firmly in place. In French families, as Druckerman describes them, parents are firmly in charge of their kids—instead of the American family style, in which the situation is all too often vice versa.

According to CNN Money, Platts and other price-reporting agencies insist that their methods aren’t vulnerable to the manipulation that the banks engaged in with LIBOR, however, that’s not necessarily true. Information is submitted voluntarily, so traders can be selective about what they report, which would allow them manipulate the market toward their own ends.
