Here is the run-down of how the SEC teams are faring thus far in the tourney (if they are not in the winner's bracket of their regional, I added the team that is in parentheses):

It may just be that the seeding was well done this year because in only 3 out of 16 regionals is the seeded team not 2-0 (#9 LSU 2-1; #13 USA 1-1; #15 Louisville 1-1, and about to be eliminated as they are losing 18-0 to UCLA with the Bruins still batting in the top of the 3rd)

But to have 7 teams in the 16 seeds, 6 of them start 2-0 and none of 11 teams eliminated yet is a pretty firm statement towards the strength of the SEC.

The Last Nickel

A father walks into a restaurant with his young son. He gives the young boy 3 nickels to play with to keep him occupied.

Suddenly, the boy starts choking, going blue in the face. The father realizes the boy has swallowed the nickels and starts slapping him on the back. The boy coughs up 2 of the nickels, but keeps choking. Looking at his son, the father is panicking, shouting for help.

A well-dressed, attractive, and serious looking woman in a blue business suit is sitting at the coffee bar reading a newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion, she looks up, puts her coffee cup down, neatly folds the newspaper and places it on the counter, gets up from her seat and makes her way, unhurried, across the restaurant.

Reaching the boy, the woman carefully drops his pants; takes hold of the boy's testicles and starts to squeeze and twist, gently at first and then ever so firmly. After a few seconds the boy convulses violently and coughs up the last nickel, which the woman deftly catches in her free hand.

Releasing the boy's testicles, the woman hands the nickel to the father and walks back to her seat at the coffee bar without saying a word.

As soon as he is sure that his son has suffered no ill effects, the father rushes over to the woman and starts thanking her saying, "I've never seen anybody do anything like that before, it was fantastic. Are you a doctor? "

Time to take a moment to be thankful for all those guys that are serving at home and around the world keeping us safe and free. Without them we would not be able to spout off all our various opinions on Too Hot and other places. Remember to say a prayer for them also. They do need it.

And if you see a guy in uniform, please let them know how much you appreciate what they are doing for you and the U.S.A. Pay for their meal if they happen to be eating out at the same where you might be also. :)

The IRS Scandal Is a Supreme Court Scandal

I've been called an extremist on the 501(c)(4) issue, so I thought I'd post this than maybe you'll see that there is a big problem with these 501(c)(4)s. After reading this article hopefully you won't think my opinion on this matter is so farfetched.

Italian Funeral

A Jewish man was leaving a convenience store with his espresso when he noticed a most unusual Italian funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about 50 feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary Italian man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking single file.

The man couldn't stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the Italian man walking the dog and said:

"I am so sorry for your loss, and this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen an Italian funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?"

"My wife's."

''What happened to her?"

"She yelled at me and my dog attacked and killed her."

He inquired further, "But who is in the second hearse?"

The Italian man answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to help my wife when the dog turned on her."

A very poignant and touching moment of Jewish and Italian brotherhood and silence passed between the two men..

The IRS problem; merely dispicable or illegal?

I know there are several IRS threads and I do not mean to dupe. However, whether this ends up as *only* a deeply embarrassing political sideshow where a few people lose their jobs, or results in criminal charges, still remains to be seen.

So, this thread is dedicated to that question. Were there any IRS actions, either specifically attributable to the profiling, or even tangentially connected to the profiling, that are criminal?

I do not know.

Here is some discussion on the matter. It will be interesting to see what the liberals bring to the party.

Chinese Adoption? Suck on This...

The U.S. just closed its consulate in Guangzhou, China, with only an announcement that it was a "facilities closing", and no announcement of when a new facility might open. What does that mean for Americans? If you happen to be adopting a baby from China, then you have to wait for the consulate to re-open, or wait for an embassy in China to start processing adoptions. The consulate was previously used to issue the visa that allows the child to come to America, as well as the paperwork that makes the adopted child a U.S. citizen upon arrival.

Since security is not a major concern in Guangzhou, one can only assume that Obama decided to "sequester" the facility to "save money" (read: punish taxpayers). People who adopt from China invest about $15,000 (before the visit to pick up the child) and wait anywhere from one year to 4+ years to get their child, getting fingerprinted every 18 months, plus getting a home study done every 18 months. If Obama wanted to save money, how about not fingerprinting adoptive parents like they were terrorist suspects?

The best part of the movie was when Kirk Died and the emotion between he and Spock. Spock crying and getting angry for his friend, then he takes it to Khan. I loved how this movie tied into the original back in the day movie. The Nimoy cameo was great.Also, the guy who played khan was fabulous.

New Study: Scientific Consensus on AGW Increasing

Peer reviewed research opposing AGW has shrunk to .7% of papers. From Science Daily:

"May 15, 2013 � A comprehensive analysis of peer-reviewed articles on the topic of global warming and climate change has revealed an overwhelming consensus among scientists that recent warming is human-caused.

The study is the most comprehensive yet and identified 4000 summaries, otherwise known as abstracts, from papers published in the past 21 years that stated a position on the cause of recent global warming -- 97 per cent of these endorsed the consensus that we are seeing human-made, or anthropogenic, global warming (AGW).

Led by John Cook at the University of Queensland, the study has been published 16 May, in IOP Publishing's journal Environmental Research Letters.

The study went one step further, asking the authors of these papers to rate their entire paper using the same criteria. Over 2000 papers were rated and among those that discussed the cause of recent global warming, 97 per cent endorsed the consensus that it is caused by humans.

The findings are in stark contrast to the public's position on global warming; a 2012 poll* revealed that more than half of Americans either disagree, or are unaware, that scientists overwhelmingly agree that Earth is warming because of human activity."

What was previously a position favored by moderates is now the shrinking fall back position of conservatives.

And looking ahead, there is evidence that the civil union option may have a limited future, at least if younger Americans are any indication. When given a three-way choice, civil unions are the least popular option among Millennials (Americans born after 1980). Only slightly more than 1-in-10 (13%) Millennials prefer civil unions, while 67% say they support allowing gay and lesbian people to marry, and 15% oppose any legal recognition of a gay couple�s relationship."
