boredom

good morning, ladies and gents....
its 2:52 a.m. central time, i am wide awake, there is nothing really watchable on the morass of channels available to me, they don't really account for nightowls, do they? or night workers...people that are awake at odd hours, as they certainly don't appear to be attempting to get anyone's attention much less nielsen rating.
lots and lots of exciting informercials!
even the news channels..every time i've flipped past cnn, larry king and judge judy (his guest) are STILL on. i've already rehashed today's ncaa games via espn several times, even comedy central...well, i've seen this guy before, and he's the last 'act' before the 'enlarge' infomercials come on. i know its called something else, but, well that describes it better.
and hbo with the rest of the pay movie channels, dig to the bottom of the b, hell, C movie barrel. i'm not interested in 'no plot, but lots of boobage' movies.
oh no here it is....extenze....where's that remote????
tv guide channel. see what's on.....
this way i can watch an infomercial WHILE seeing what's on. what could be better than that? not looking good....just rows and rows of 'paid programming'.
nightowls are becoming a lost breed i guess.
maybe i should just put down the remote, pick up a good book...yeah that's it, i need to finish this patricia cornwell book i borrowed from mom in law.
READ????????? what a novel idea! no pun intended.
its what i used to do, throughout all of these many sleepless nights, read until sleepy.
a long time ago, i read stephen king's 'the stand' , well most of it, in one night. of course, the 'night' didn't end til eight a.m. the next day. there was no internet back then, and there still wasn't anything on tv that late either. that part never changes, doesn't matter how many tiers of channels you add.
and the 'in between season' is almost upon me, the 'no football, no hoops'...i love the summer, especially up here, being tired of the cold, wet dreariness....but summer brings 'no sports'....(my apologies to baseball fans....just can't get real excited about baseball til october...and even then, depends on if the braves get anywhere)
i think i'm gonna get that book now.

Hey, vert! Came across this satirical video clip on youtube and thought about your blog entry.

The only Cornwell novel I've read is The Body Farm years ago. It was a great read. Thanks for reminding me of her, I'll probably pick up another one by her. Anyone have any suggestions?
We all need to read more; TV is a drug.Posted 04-05-2009 at 04:41 PM by lacuna
