friday night...tgif

well its late friday night, or i guess more specifically, early saturday morning. another week gone. (another day another dollar?)
looks like i'm the last one up (again) so i'll turn the lights out before i leave..

contemplating how this year has seemingly flown by. its not been a year since i had that driveway accident and almost lost the leg, has it? oh yes it has. i remember i couldn't do a lot of decorating for the holidays last year because i was hobbled.

they've already put up the holiday lights on the boulevard, like all towns across the country do, every year. it gets earlier though. i remember when you did not put a tree up before thanksgiving. hell, i remember when you did not put a tree up earlier than two weeks prior to christmas. mainly because we were dealing with real trees as a kid, and they don't last 6 or 7 weeks. now i want to put it up because winter is so dreary, i want to enjoy the colours and festive feeling it brings, because after christmas/new years day...there's nothing left but winter.
and after new years...there goes the end of football, which is a sad enough time in this household. followed by the end of the hoops season, march madness. oh, how we revolve around sports in this house.

at least after march madness, we do have spring to look forward to....

vertigo, what happened to your leg? Another Thanksgiving here in NOLA at my wife's parents' house in Kenner. I hate friggin' Jefferson Parrish. Why live in NOLA if you are gonna live in the suburbs? It makes no damn sense to me. Might as well live anywhere else, for that matter. To live in NOLA, is to live in the city. That is NOLA.

Nice day today though. My wife, Ellen, and I, have rented a new place on Annunciation St, 1 block from one of the famous po' boy places in the city--Domilise's. Looks like I will be eating well! Our dog, Jack the Dog, has his own private back yard to play in and create havock, so I think that might be good (I'm not sure). And in classic NOLA fashion, we are already planning plenty of parties with lots of booze.
