Bye Week Bliss

2 down, 1 to go -

While my Photoshop skills may very well be lacking, suffice to say that the stranglehold the Bowdens have on coaching is now just as absent. I don’t know what’s more LOL-worthy – seeing your dad still coaching and agreeably twice your age or the fact that I used the word “stranglehold” to describe this bunches relationship with football. The only thing Blobby passed down to his sons was his last name because they certainly didn’t get any of his coaching ability. Perhaps the first 5 children he fathered unknowingly before them usurped that mantle. Hello Skip Bowd-, er, Holtz. Dr. Lou having kids? Ew. Marital relations? Please.
Anyways, the coaching carousel continues which begs the question –

(But for how long?!)
LSU gets SPIKED –

(Gator MLB Brandon Spikes has a swaggery style on and certainly off the field)
Well that went well. My aforementioned Florida Blitzkrieg worked about as well as the original Blitzkriegs did against people of similar French ancestry. It’s great to be a Florida Gator, indeed. The team looked very good and with this coming bye week we’ve set a pace that SHOULD carry us to a SEC Championship Game appearance.
I’d also like to recognize GatorJoel, who, with a UF-LSU prediction of 45-24, was the closest poster to the actual score in gatordmb89’s Official UF vs. LSU Predictions Thread. Congratulations bud.
Ricky Bobby-Francois --

Oh, Mr. Franois. To share some immortal words from a one, Sir Charles Barkley, yous a knucklehead. Barkley, seemingly an infinite resource for substantial advice also affirmed that, “Only poor people go to jail”. But I digress. In fact, Ricky and I are pretty alike. We both talk some MAD smack and we do it without fear of the consequences. I’m hidden behind a computer. Him? Behind some groin injury. We also have another something in common – we shared the same seat last Saturday night for the game. At home. On our ass.
Big 10/11/Not really good teams --
I, alike most fans with a favorite SEC team, am undeniably NOT a fan of the Big 10/11. The Big 10 is usually no better than its good team. Team is singular because there’s usually only ONE good team. The rest are, well, just the rest. This year’s poster child seems to be the fighting Joe Pa’s of Penn State. Here’s a breakdown of the opposition (opposition? I’m more likely to deem this ragtag bunch as something a little more condescending…) --
Coastal Carolina: 3-4
Oregon State: 3-3
Temple: 1-5
Illinois: 3-3
Purdue: 2-4
Wisconsin: 3-3
Michigan: 2-4 (coming up)
Overall record of opponents: 17-26, 65%. The only team that deserves a half-ass bit of credit from yours truly is Oregon State who trumped USC but has been awkwardly bad in the rest of their games, both wins and losses. Coastal Carolina, who recently lost to my alma mater, the Keydets of the Virginia Military Institute and, well, that’s all you need to know about how truly bad they are. Temple, same thing, just worse. Illinois just lost to Minnesota who looks better than usual especially when usual is 1-11, as in the case of last year. Purdue is boiling themselves into bottom feeders of this bottom-feeding conference. Wisconsin, who started strong against some bad teams, has lost 3 straight and Michigan? Haha, please. So is Penn State this good? Everyone seems to think so but, like I said, they’re the Big 10’s poster child for this year and that should be enough for everyone. We’ll see how they fare against someone with a winning record, if that ever gets here.
Question of the week –
A Gibby first. I’ll ask a question that I’m having about our beloved Gators. The first to respond with an answer and one that bears some sort of correctness will get some REP and a shout-out as GatorJoel did this week. So, the question:
Brandon Spikes is sporting a new style of helmet/facemask. I’ve only seen a few of this style around the NCAA, so is there any name to it? Who makes it, etc., etc.

As always, get those scores in next week for the matchup against the Wildcats in gatordmb89’s official prediction thread and let’s hear it for the Gators!

Spikes' facemask appears similar to the Schutt Adult ROPO-DW mask here... but I can't be sure.Posted 10-16-2008 at 01:16 PM by Bradass
