Tuesday is here and the winds continue. It has brought additional work (emergency variety), good for the wallet but bad for the people that have the damage. I try to get these people to do preventative maintenance on their trees, but alas they wait for the damage to occur. Tsk Tsk ...

good morning and the best to all

i love this site and all of you and will continue to be a lifetime member. there is nothing physically wrong with me except rehabbing my shoulder. i am now driving so all is well.

i am taking a hiatus from repping so please do not waste a rep on me. i have become a bridge bum at 79 and with my PT i have very little spare time.

it's almost 3am here and i will now begin my home exercises which are a hour long twice a day.

Good health to you all and especially our GATORS who seem to get banged-up more than normal.

I woke up at 5:45 and said "screw it", went back to bed and just woke up. BBRRRR!!!!!! There are whitecaps on the lake. I'm in the scrub too, so I only have pine straw, needles and moss down. Maybe a few twigs.

Hump day....not many left this year for me

Today is a 1/2 day field day, no wonder the kids are thinking school is over~ will be fun for all. Our coach is the BEST I've worked with in 3 states..... she is incredible and the days she plans for the entire school are just incredible fun for all.

Tonight is the first of 3 "tastings"~ deciding on who we want to caterer the reception.
I have my "ideas" now to get the bride and groom to see it my way without being the obnoxious MIL.hahahahhaha

Oh believe me Flip has CLIPPED THOSE WINGS, so now I'm having to be very very cautious and good!

The groom's mother doesn't have good memories, so many "pushed them in all directions" that she is being PERFECT and accepting of anything/everything. So I have to join "sides with her." The daughter says "Mom we are picking everything..... " I shut up and smile and lay back and then she starts "Mom please give us your opinion" So it is working well so far. Sometimes giving up control gives you much more in the world.

We have been enjoying the spring ritual of the adult Cardinals helping their young ones get the hang of flying, and landing, they spend time in our little water garden area cleaning up & finding small insects- very relaxing to view!

But speaking of fun~ yesterday our PE Coach pulled off the best field day I"ve witnessed since becoming a teacher 30+ years ago. The woman is amazing. Family volunteers , teacher helpers and a well organized field with MULITPLE activities that were fun, engaging and just plain cool filled our 2 hour slot, then we cooled down to DISNEY RADIO ( great DJ) and did the Congo line, and a few other GROUP DANCES..... the kids had a BLAST and it wasn't a bad day for us older kids either.

Ha ha ha I'm first up this morning.

Let me explain why.

Yesterday I was scheduled for neck/neuro surgery at 10am. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 8am.
Unfortunately for me but fortunatelly for someone else who needed emergency surgery for a brain bleed(sort of fortunate) My surgery was pushed back to noon. I didn't hear how the other surgery went but hope and pray it went well. My Doctor performed the surgery and appeared to be OK (emotionally) prior to mine.

I arrived at the hospital at 10am. At 11:15 I was taken back for prep. They made me strip and put on this robe that ties in the back. Since they got me an extra extra large robe I tied all the strings and put it on like a huge nighty (with the opening in the back of course) Last but not least I donned these cute little light blue socks with sticky things on the bottom. At 1pm they wisked me into holding and then the big white room and gave me this shot that put me out there and eventually to sleep. Since the surgery was performed from the back of the neck they had to sit me up and lean me forward. A metal halo was placed on my head to keep me stationary (so they said). Sometime after 3pm I woke up in op holding.

Upon my waking up I felt this fairly sharp pain in my front left forehead area vs minor pain in my upper back and neck where the surgery took place. They had to cut and peel back some muscle to get to the opening where my nerve passes throught the C-6,C-7 area to clean out the opening (I call it roater- rooter) so it would not pinch the nerve.

When I feel the pain I reach up and find these lumps on my forehead. Bad mistake on my part as they were pretty darn sore. The attendant checks them out and tells me I have staples in my forehead. I immediately go into the "WTH" thought process and think maybe something went wrong and they had to drill through my forehead. The attendant who has no idea why the staples are there checks out why. She returns to tell me one of the halo pins punctured my skin, so "viola" (sp) staples. After hearing the news I'm extremely relieved knowing that I didn't have a hole in my head, just skin. (Insert the "They were just tucking in some foreskin joke" here)

After the staple in the head suprise, I calmed down and went back to my normal self, joking with my nurse. I drank five cups of water right away since I hadn't had anything to drink since 1am the night before. Then I got a treat when she brought me a percocet. Shoot I would have rolled over and played dead for it, but she didn't ask me to. She made me eat a cracker with the pill. Next came the wife with my clothes and a BIG smile. Awesome, I really like a good bady sitter who can cook and will take care of me for 4-6 weeks.

Believe it or not the surgery was out-patient. I insisted and my doctor agreed to it if everything went well and I appeared OK in recovery.

We used valet parking (3 whole bucks and a tip) that morning. As we head out to dropoff (me riding and the wife walking and toting the stuff) there are no valet attendants. It's closed. My wife has to go to the gift shop and get the key. AND then she has to find the car in the very numerous parking places. Fortunately for her they find a courtesy van and drive her around until the car is spotted. She returns with the car, I get in, and off to the house we go.

She drops me off at the house and heads to the pharmacy to fill my muscle relaxing and pain pill scrips. I'm in "my" recliner all the time sleeping and drooling when I doze off. When she gets back she gets me pills, great food like her very awesome homemade potato soup, plenty of about anything to drink, and ice cream too. Finally she sits down to rest and eat. Well the night goes really well considering the circumstances. I even watch Dancing with the Stars with her. I figured if she could help me so much with a smile the least I could do is let her watch one of her favorite shows on the big screen TV.

We went to bed at around midnight. I lasted until now.

They are doing truly amazing things in the surgery field, Congrats and wishes for a speedy & complete recovery CD. I had my prostate removed using robotic surgery the last week in February and was walking out the door at Shands less than 24 hrs after I got into my room after the operation.

It doesn't matter where the pain is as pain is pain. Foot Pain can really be a pain in the butt. (does that make sense).

Man this morning has been bad!
