I've been walking more and more each day. I think I overdid it a bit on Monday - several friends and folks from work came over and I sat upright all day long. Its much more comfy to have my feet up in the recliner. Wish it would warm up so I could go outside and enjoy the garden. you know I hate the cold!

28 & dropping here in the country haven that is Irvine, not nearly as bad as predicted on the tube or the acuweather boys. looks like the citrus bunch has pushed the right buttons to loosen restrictions on shipping out of state, some things never change, I remember back in the day in Clermont when the temp dropped like it has these days it was an excused abscence from school if you stayed up all night helping the guys fire the groves (yes Clermoint used to be a village in the middle of a sea of orange groves) :)

Good Morning Gator Pubsters, at least this cold weather should cut down the mosquito population but as the frozen vegetation dries out it is going to increase the threat of wildfires later. Seems like we are paying for our light hurricane season with a much more visiously cold winter, I just hope this January doesn't foreshadow an even colder February. Big game tonight, Roll Tide!!!!!! (Man it hurts to root for Sabin but I'd rather our only loss to the 09 NC than to an also ran)

I had to scrape my windshield, but I don't have a windshield scraper. I haven't had to do that since I was a kid in MN. So I parked the car facing the sun, it should clear off in about 10-15 minutes or so.

Low 40's here, today must be our 1 day respite before the next, predicted worse, onslaught of northern winter. Ferns in the bed under the pines are taking it hard but they will recover in the spring. Need to water my staghorns well today to get them right to withstand the next week of cold, they are in a small but unheated greenhouse and some of the younger ones are starting to look a tad peaked.

Weather showing some improvement here in Irvine, 27.7 today v 19.9 yesterday. Looks like we may be headed for a more 'normal' Florida weather cycle for the next few weeks.
Looking forward to the UK tilt this evening to see how our kids respond ~ I think the game could be an indicator of how they will do the rest of the seaon, I'd be pleasantly surpised with a win but very disappointed if they don't show a lot of heart playing at home in the SEC opener.

Morning all. My early rising has gradually been getting later and later over the past 3 weeks. I'll probably be going back to the grind next week and will have to get used to getting up at 5 AM again.....

Good Morning Pubsters, a tad dreary here as Saturday arrives here in Irvine. Looks like it will be warm and damp, a nice respite from cold & brittle. I'll be working on-line most of the day but will make time to get outside to survey the flora and start to gauge the damage, looks like I could lose some staghorns that had their start in the early 70's, hoping that is not the case but wont know for sure for a few weeks.

The Massey guy came yesterday to feed the shrubs and trees. Said not to prune anything until March. Its such a shame - it was all so pretty and green. The camelias were in full bloom and now everyting is just brown.

Hope everyone has a great start to the new week. Don't forget the reason this day is a Holiday, how far we have come and how far we have to go..........
I was at the Kappa Sig house in Gvl when MLK was shot and remember the troops on many street corners, there because no one knew what to expect. Gville did well during that potentially explosive time and has done better than many areas in providing opportunities for everyone, not perfect but well just the same.

Virus ate my hard drive on my work lap top and screwed up my plans for the week, headed in in an hour to get it wiped and reformatted so I can get back to doing the people's business.
