Your family was fortunate. How can I best describe this? Ever been up here for a game? If you have been here for a game I assume you enjoyed a little lower Broad night life. That area was flooded up to 4th ave. To give you an idea of the flooding the Wildhorse Saloon, where the Gators have their Friday night pep rally before the game is on 2nd ave. It was flooded and that street was closed for several days. The Opryland Hotel (Gaylord) and the Opry Mills Mall were under water.

One of the cities Water Treatment Plants was under water. People were cut off for several days where roads were blocked and no one allowed to travel from water depth on roads. FEMA has stated that the city of Nashville has 1.9 Billion dollars worth of damages. The river level at this time is at 24ft, the flood stage level is 40ft, the river was up to 51ft 9 inches for three days. If it had reached 52ft we would have lost our remaining drinking water plant and would have been completely devastated for the KR Harrington Plant was flooded, but my plant survived by three inches.

We have been working under a state of emergency order since the 1st, and I haven't had a day off since April 11th. All in all we are fortunate from the way everyone responded and dealt with this, but after all we are Nashville.
