View Full Version : Official Game Threads

We have had official game threads for several years now and with the season opening tonight here are some reminders.

Basically the official game thread becomes the only thread for that game once the game kicks off. Once the game ends, it is no longer the only thread allowed.

During the game if there are any new threads started about the game and there is an official game thread- then they are deleted without comment or warning.

Anyone can start a game thread once the game has started, if there was not a prior official game thread.

FTR, RayGator is our official game thread writer. He will pick some games and have the pertinent information for that game. So, out of respect for him please do not start any game threads until the game starts. If the game starts and there is not a game thread go ahead and start one.

The reason we do this is that during the game the board would get turned upside down with one or two post threads that would bury other topics deep into the forum. While we could have a game day forum like some sites, we prefer to keep all of our football discussion on the one forum.

Also, on the official game thread we try to be a little more lax about what is allowed by keeping in mind the ebb, flow and emotion of a game.

I'm thinking the amount of penalties both UF and Miami will amass against each will deserve a seperate thread.

When will you start a thread for the game in Jacksonville? The board is getting cluttered with a lot of similar threads.

Normally on Thursday, but the no other thread rule does not kick in until kickoff.

It is quite natural to be overloaded with UGA threads and this year I think it is even more interesting than normal.

Just thought a reminder was a good idea. Also we plan on posting official game threads for all the 2008-09 Bowl Games plus the NFL Super Bowl XLIII on Feb. 1st. Thanks. :)

Go Gators!

I trust everyone is OK with the way the game threads are set up. Any suggestions or constructive criticism is OK.

Thanks and Go Gators !

With the start of the 2009 college football season on the door step it would be a good idea if posters would take a monent and look at the opening post on this thread by GatorGrowl. That will help make Gator Game Day threads go a lot smoother.

We will not flood GC with unnecessary game threads but those games that are of interest to Gators and friends on GC and are important to UF getting to the SEC Championshnip in Atlanta and the BCS Championship in Pasadena CA will be posted. And also traditional college football classics such as the ARMY-NAVY Game will have an official game thread as well.

If you take a moment from time to time during the Fall to check the The GATOR TV Guide over on the Gator Aide Station info forum, you will get an idea of what other games are being considerd as "official" game threads. These games of importance can certainly change as the season goes along. You can never know for sure what may be important in October or November when we post this in late August!

Go Gators! :)

Well, at first I wasn't sure about doing a Oregon-Boise State thread but I had some requests to do it, so I did.

OK, another request for you Ray: For the UCLA-Tennessee game, can you just title it the DoucheBag Bowl. Hard to find two bigger douchebags in the head coaching ranks than Nuey and Kiffin.

I have a question. Why do some of the players wear orange bands on their arms? They look like they are elastic and kind of tight.
