From the article:

I've always known I was gay from the time I was a little kid," Cooper, who came out in an email to Andrew Sullivan last summer, recalled. "I can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of it, even before I knew what it was or the name of it."

I think he was discussing "coming out" and being gay, but he actually confirmed it last summer. I am not complaining about the post.

Yes, he came out last summer.

Suddenly last summer. Elizabeth Taylor screamed and yelled and... Oh, wait, I'm thinking of something else. (God, she looked good in that swimsuit. Eh, Anderson?)

Nor am I. My recollection of it was when my wife was watching his show some time ago and her telling me he had came out.

Didn't mean to suggest you were. Sorry about that.

Equiv'lent to Rosie O’Donnell coming forth that she's fat.

On a serious note, is there any objective method of dissecting the statement “I’ve always known from the time I was a little kid.”

When I was a “little kid” my knowledge of gender/sex designations went little beyond noting that boys had shorter haircuts and ended up in detention a lot more. How in the world a little kid is supposed to know makes escapes me.

When I was a little kid, I was told by another little kid that homosexuals are people whose sex organs are in their throats.

In first grade, I wrote a girl, Kim, a love note. I remember how smitten I was with her and how disappointed I was when she moved away before second grade. It's not just possible to remember, but adults often remember many things about their childhood. And as is often the case, kids often know deep down what sex they are attracted to even if they don't quite recognize or understand it.

When I was a little kid, I was in love with all of my female teachers, though I guess I didn't exactly know why. I even loved the one who sent me to the cloak room for cutting up, then forgot I was there and locked me in the classroom during lunch hour.

I thought it was funny how she hid in the cloak room herself when my mom came to talk to her about what happened. She had another teacher tell Mom that she didn't know where she was.

I remember my uncle telling me how in love he was with his teacher Rose Faye. He said that he deliberately flunked a grade just so he could stay in her class.

You could still be rehabilitated.

But you have to seek help for the condition first.

We sure do spend a lot of time talking about 3-5% of the population.

there are much bigger problems out there than two queers not being able to marry.

I had crushes on girls in early elementary school. Don't remember the grade.

Uh, that sexual identity is determined early in our lives. Isn't that obvious from the other discussion on this thread? Not only is that our best current scientific information but is also within the personal experience of many of us, if not all.

Why, you want to fight about it?

I had girls swarming all over me in elementary school.

It was only later in life that I learned that I had been given the blessing (or the curse) of the Kavorka.

Similar, but somehow my charm wore off as I got older. One girl locked me in her basement when I was about 8, though I am sure her intentions were honorable.

Then maybe we ought to just let them and stop arguing about it.

I think Anderson should marry Don Lemon. Think of the field day the media would have with such a high-profile, interracial same-sex marriage, performed live on CNN. (How many here are old enough to remember when Tiny "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" Tim and his lady love got married on the Johnny Carson Show?)

Awww, Row. The correct answer was: "Nope. I'm still there. They had a computer with a modem down here so I've been here ever since. Send help? Please?"
