I posted this in another thread but... I just feel that it needs its own thread.

Anyone who has seen Limey's Gatorized Union Jack knows that this artwork is not only cool... but personalized to his homeland.
I am not even British but I love your Gatorized Flag!

So, hey, here is an idea:
For other Gator Fans from different country orgins... It might be cool to design your own International Gator Flag... incorporating the flag's patterns and colors with the Gator Head Logo or other Gator emblems, etc.

Then, have a contest on Gator Country.
Everyone submit their flag's entry. Then we vote to see who is the winner!
Just the creative out pouring to see what people come up with would be entertaining!

This could mushroom into T-shirts.... T-shirt sales online.
Gorgeous ladies could then be seen on campus walking around with scantily, low-cut tops with Albert incorporated into their country's flag on the front.

As, The Dictator would say:

Long live the Republic of Wadiya!

I live out of state... but heck... I would start coming back to G-ville more in order to check out those beautiful international gals!

And the wearing of these various Gatorized flags by fans as they travel on vacations would spread Albert's fame around the world!

I have one of those German flags. The one with the black eagle on it. It's one of my many, many car flags. I have it on my car during one of our Family Reunions - Familientreffens when they are held in the States every 4th year. They are every 2 years, alternating between the USA and Germany. I'll be in Bavaria next August for our next Reunion. My relatives in the Old Country's turn to host it. Just received an email from them with the latest details info.

And oh yes, during the Reunions here in The USA I have both the US and German flags on my car. One on the left side and one on the right side. Out last Reunion was in August 2011 in Western North Carolina. My older brother and his wife have a summer home on a peak outside of Flat Rock NC near Hendersonville. We Had about 60 there. Maybe 40 from the States and 20 from various sections in Deutschland. :)

I think it would be great to have a Gator on a German car flag! Place it where they have the black eagle. I'd sure get one! :)

Actually, we already had a similar one once. No, it did not have a Gator logo on it but it was similar. Also slightly similar to the State of Florida flag we now have. UF had the flag in the Fall of 1961 when I was a FR.

The UF flag back then had an orange background field. A white St. Andrew's Cross was across the orange field. In the center of the cross a Florida symbol. On each of the 4 arms of the X cross were 3 blue stars. On the left side of the flag, on the orange field, was a big UF in blue. I was in the Gator Band then and in front of the band when we were marching was that UF flag and the state of Florida flag. I think it was in 1962 or maybe 1963 we changed to the UF flag we now have.

I think the Poles were very happy to get rid of Sebastian. The crime rate in Warsaw certainly dropped.

Ask and you shall receive. You may be able to get a custom flag made... there are four variations of the flag.

One of these days I'll get a Gator on my Welsh flag avatar. Haven't found a suitable fit to replace the Welsh dragon.
I think Limey should try a version of St. George's cross with 3 gators instead of golden lions. Might look good. Tack a motto underneath, like "Made in England - Laid in Wales" :tongue:

Got a kick out of the beanie... on the Welsh Dragon.

Keep coming up with some cool ideas folks...
Then, take your jpeg to a t-shirt place and have them put your Gatorized Flag (or emblem) on the front of your T-shirt.
That way, wherever you go... at Florida Field...here in the USA or international... people will see the Gator Nation represented!

It is just not in good taste...
Reverse the roles...how would you feel?

I can see someone flying a Rebel Flag in their yard, whatever.
But to fly it from a car... driving around in the prodominatly Black section of a town would not be cool.
How would we feel if someone were to drive around with an Iraqi flag... doing circles around Ground Zero in NYC???

I'm as conservative and as Caucasian as they come... (my high school team's mascot was The Rebels and we had the Rebel flag)... but I am not going to fly a Rebel flag flagrantly...

Not a sad post at all, my friend.
It is a matter of respect.
It is also a two-sided coin.

On one side of the coin is our freedom (as legal citizens of the United States) to fly whatever darn flag that we want to fly in our homes and on our property.

On the other side of the coin is our respect that we have for other United States citizens and what they have had to go through in gaining that valued citizenship.

Hey my own Great Grandfather owned over 30 slaves in Louisiana. He later fought for the Confederacy (had his lung blown out at the Battle of Chicamunga... and was also there at Appomattox Court House with General Lee.)

I am a complete lover of the South and for all it stands for...
I actually own a complete (shirt, tie, pants and coat) Rebel uniform. It is authentic in EVERY detail... right down to the ensignias on the brass buttons on the coat (41st Lousiana Infantry).

I could have gone to any university in the nation... I was recruited by Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, etc...but I attended and played for the University of Florida because of my love for the South AND...my home state....Florida.

But I am not going to be waving a Rebel flag in someone's face... on their turf...
It is... and always has been... a matter of mutual respect.

For the record...I am a liberal and a Southerner. I never said I was going to fly the flag anywhere, much less drive through sections of town with it on my car. Robert E. Lee's portrait hangs in my home...and I will not apologize for it. I just said I would like to see one. That's all. I'm sorry if that was in poor taste.

I would not mind seeing a Gatorized Confederate Flag myself...
I think it would be pretty cool...

Change the red to orange... put in the blue bars with the white or silver stars...
Put a GatorHead Logo in the middle of the flag.

One needs to understand...that to me... the Confederate Flag means a lot of different things to a lot of people.

While I am totally embarrassed by the South's practice of slavery...
sadly...that's just the way it was back then.
While my Great Grandfather had slaves, he treated them with such kindness and generosity that they actually cried when he had to flee his home because the Union Forces were marching through his area.
He, his wife and all of his family left their home for over a year. Gave the keys, all the stored food, 2000 acres of crops and all the livestock.. and the authority to run his plantation to his slaves.
England got rid of the practice and eventually, we wised up and did the same.

To me... the Conferate Flag is ONE of the symbols that represents the South and its culture and great heritage.

Either one is good.
Kind of like the darker blue a bit more...

All kinds of variations can come from this design...
Like...
Make the stars a silver color?
Darken the orange a bit?
Add some more color to the Gator Head Logo?

Or...keep it just like it is...
I suggested to Limey that he changed the red in his Gatorized Union Jack to orange and it made all the difference in the world...
Keep trying different combos... but these two look good....

You forgot part of it. It's "Drum With The Biggest Boom In Dixie." Back when I was in the Gator Band we had our logo so to speak. In front of the marching band we always had the Big Base Drum.. Usually now at Homecoming games when they have an alumni band, they often bring it out.

When I was in the Gator Band and we were being introduced at halftime shows etc, the announcer over the loud speaker would say, "The University of Florida Gator Marching Band. And the drum with the biggest boom in Dixie!"
