View Full Version : Murphy's ritual?
from Gatorsports.com:
– Murphy said there is no particular reason why he doesn’t take part in pregame shoot-arounds, which are optional. It’s not like the 6-foot-10 senior needs warming up. He still leads the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage at 46.7 percent. from beyond the arc. “The whole season and last season, too, that’s just what I do,” Murphy said. “It’s my ritual.”

Hope he does something different.....he has been a little invisible lately. All of the focus has been on Kenny, but Eric really needs to UP his game the rest of the season.

He probably would benefit from taking some pre-game 3-point shots, at least when we are on the road. At home he is familiar with the sightlines, but every facility is different and looks different to the shooter. If I remember correctly, his shooting on the road has not been as good, especially in our losses.

he works on post moves in the pre-game warm-up and mid-range jumpers, if memory serves.
he probably doesn't need to shoot the 3 at home, but it would be wise to get a feel for the road venues from various points around the arc.

Iknow we are a guard oriented team, but i still expect MORE from our senior "stretch four". If he is not shooting well, his ability to help the team greatly diminishes. It's not a PF that can go to the post and score/ rebound.

Agree that shooting at home wouldn't benefit him. He's taken million shots in the O'Dome. On the road, he simply prefers not to be harassed by early arriving students that tell you things you didn't know about your mother, what a &%$@ *@#$ you are, etc.

Murphy's dip is directly attributable to his having to assume a larger role under the boards because of the absence of Yeguete. There really is no explanation for Boynton's season long swoon. While he's had good games, the vast majority of them have been way below what we know he's capable of doing.
Every game I say to myself, this is going to be his breakout game, and the rest will be history. I've never seen a basketball player have a season long slump. At some point the light will go on. No one will have an answer for us when it does.
