How many more road games does Duke have?

Shouldn't the fact that there aren't great teams this year negate all these court rushings? Its gotten to where teams are ranked top 5 due to a technicality (someone has to be ranked high). Couple this with the fact that NO ONE seems capable of winning on the road...

One of the reasons I really like that we don't rush the court. Along with the fact that it's busch league and we're in that echelon of programs that shouldn't rush the court for anyone.

The one exception is the Minnesota win over Indiana. Those Minnesotans needed that, their team was on a slide and they hadn't beaten a #1 team since 1989.

Yup...we don't need to storm any damn courts. Our recent history speaks for itself.

I think Virginia is one of those teams that shouldn't be rushing the court by beating Duke...they are expected to be a tournament team...

That and I think I heard they were actually favored by a point

Just heard on the radio that Duke has had the court stormed for:

18 out of their last 24 losses

42 out of their last 54 losses

This could be my new favorite stat of all time!!!

Didn't one of our players have an altercation with a court-storming Vandy fan years ago?

Man this just can't be true, can it? Surely UNC beat them a good number of these times and didn't rush. I'm not saying you didn't hear this, I just can't imagine its the case.

That being said, if this is true, it reflects well on Duke as a program.

:whoa: Oh...but wait...The photos that Tar Heel fans NEVER wanted you to see:

"As the final buzzer went off and the students in the student section rushed the court, I felt proud to be a Tar Heel too. And, as I walked uphill with my dad toward Franklin St. to celebrate, I realized that I’ll never look at Duke the same way again." http://www.dailytarheel.com/blog/pit_talk/2011/03/unc_bucket_list_40_get_tickets_as_a_senior_to_the_ uncduke_game

March 5, 2011 vs. Duke:

To be fair, Coach K never said he didn't want the kids to be able to rush the court he just wants the opposing team to be able to get off the court first I don't know if that was the case in these pictures.

I've never seen a court rush, that waited for teams to clear the court. My guess is Durham and Chapel Hill are no different.

The SEC has it figured out, why cant the ACC?

I was simply pointing out in the photos above that Duke has done it, and UNC did it two years ago....against Duke.

Just saw Tony go to the glasses on PTI...it is actually 42 out of their last 50 road games!

How crazy is that?

espn is debating whether court storming should be banned e.g. like in the SEC. bilas says yes. others say permit it but protect the players.

I consider it a fad (everyone else does it). And it does show a general lack of either smarts or self control.

Jay Bilas said that a lot of these court rushes are actually planned by the athletic directors.

Has the O-Dome court ever been rushed?

When was the last time?

I can't remember any... I saw the end of the Sloan Era, DeVoe debacle and (short but sweet) Kruger tenure...

I remember Vandy trying to cheat the rush-ban with tennis balls... (I still laugh at that one... Cost them the game.)

We beat UK like 1999 where Teddy Dupay jumped on the scorers table and 3 students rushed on the court but they were promptly slammed face down and arrested. No other students had the nerve to try after that.

1984 we beat UGA in football and rushed the field and tore down the goals. Last time I can remember where we didn't have rules against it. I think Foley was the one that pushed for the SEC rule not long after in what seemed to be a bunch of court stormings all against our football and basketball teams. Once the rule was in place Foley was like the Gestapo in enforcing it. Police lined up on horses around Florida field daring anyone to come on the field. Every year you would find 2 or 3 dummies attempt to rush the field/court and they would end up being hog tied like a mutton.

Kansas rushed the court in an invitational against us, FSU also did when they beat our 2006 team. I think MSU kids did too when they beat us in the title game.

We don't rush the court because we all feel like we've been there. I think most of us know that if you step on the court, you're going to jail. We've been conditioned by fear/punishment to be honest.

Rushing the court is very dangerous. I saw a special where 1 student got killed, another paralyzed and even a player paralyzed from court storming. It makes not sense and should be outlawed. Players should celebrate in the stands with the fans if they want or do it after everyone clears the court. Anything else is uncivilized.
