Seems like we go into serious offensive funks to close out the first half on the road

Zona - 10-2 run last 4 minutes
KSU - 16-5 run last 8 minutes
Arkansas - never in the game
Mizzou - 8-0 run last 4 minutes
Tenn - 9-2 run last 5 minutes

To me, closing out the first half is arguably the most important time of the game. It really changes the way the 2nd half is played.

It certainly is a pattern

its definitely a trend in these losses

the question is, how do we fix it?

To me, closing out the first half is arguably the most important time of the game. It really changes the way the 2nd half is played.

at LSU - 8-1 UF run last 4 minutes to stretch a 2 point lead to 9.
at aTM - 12-0 UF run last 4:44 to stretch a 5 point lead to 17.
AFA neutral site - 8-2 UF run last 3 minutes to turn a 2 point deficit into a 4 point lead.
at FSU - 7-0 UF run last 3 minutes to stretch a 13 point lead to 20
at AU - 17-4 UF run the last 5:42 to stretch a 12 point lead to 25.

You see if you just pick games UF loses you are cherry picking and you have not picked up a trend in UF's play. When you lose the other guys score more points than you so for any random stretch of minutes they on average score more than you. And heck the only other game I looked at was at UGa and there was no trend there.

So while UF did not close out either half well against Zona, failed to close some other road close losses, UF has closed out half's quite well against other road team. UF has a winning road record in the SEC for the season.

fine let me preface that as, road games against teams with a pulse

What teams don't have a pulse? UGa and aTm are middle of the pack SEC teams like UAR and UTn. The AFA has been a decent team in the MWC which many view as better than the SEC AU is a bad team but beat FSU.

Still had UF lost at UGa and aTm but beaten UTn and UAR THEIR SEC RECORDS WOULD BE REVERSED. So either UGa, UAr, UTn and aTm are all teams without a pulse and your data set is teams without a pulse or all four of those teams have a pulse.

The bottom line is you cherry picked your data. Had you looked at the full data set, your conclusions would be different. That is why for example Ken Pomeroy still has UF rated the top team in the country.

InstiGATOR has a point.

If we finish the half at Tennessee on 12-0 run and then pull away in the 2nd half to win easy and then turn around and give up a 10-0 run before half at UK and lose, we would completely overlook the Tennessee game and only look at games where we did poorly.

This team isn't perfect at the end of the half. We have given up some runs before half, gone on our own runs before half, and held even before half. Typical in a long season. We are all healthy pretty much now and only have 1 more road game. We'll be fine.
