i really think jarnell stokes will be the most physical player pat will go up against during the regular season. hes averaging 16 and 12 over the past month.
i would like to see pat set the tone early and take it right at him.

Certainly IF Young's lack of rebounding is due in part to blocking out the best rebounder on the other team, we should see Stokes get fewer boards than usual at least when Young is in the game. Young is taller than Stokes and should be able to defend him without fouling.

Doubt that last sentence in your post... Hope so but doubt it.

How did Young fair against Stokes last year?

First game at their place Young had 12 points and 7 boards. Stokes must not have played because I don't see any stats for him in that game.
2nd game Young had 7 points and 8 boards whereas Stokes had 4 points and 2 boards in 11 minutes of play.

Stokes is a fouling machine, sadly though he does not get called for nearly as many as he commits...hope we get a fair shake

This is the complete opposite from reality. He was getting called for more fouls than he was really committing. To the point where CCM had to write to the SEC head official about how bad the calls were going against Stokes. He was getting penalized simply for being the strongest, most physical player on the court.

Pat plays big when he's challenged or the opposing guy is supposed to be as good as he is
So I expect PY to play well

I'd imagine PY will get a lot of looks as we definitely aren't to be able to run and jack up open 3's as much with our short bench.

Young is taller than Stokes and should be able to defend him without fouling. This will be a huge factor in the game. I have a fear of Young getting two early fouls. The Vols and their coach know they can get an advantage by sending Young to the bench with early fouls. They will do everything in their power to accomplish that.

yes, i fully expect: vols to play very physical, bodying-up the gators/harassing, hands-all-over. no calls. but we'll get whistled for every little ticky tack touch.

The game hasn't even started. With that attitude, even if the game was called favorably for UF, you are still going to feel cheated by the refs. Selective hearing/vision before there is even anything to see or hear. SMH.

The guys got some prep for that in the Arky game on Saturday.
They'll be ready for it.

All fans always feel cheated by the Refs, except the occasional Duke fan.
If Young gets 2 early fouls, this team will be in trouble. However, it is just possible that Billy D might put Prather in the post and go with a speedy smurf team (Ogbuze and Walker, possible players, are both quite rapid, albeit inexperienced, and even Graham is pretty quick and relatively tall with good leaping ability, albeit skinny).
With UT catching the Gators down 2 important players, this is roughly the way the Wisconsin team found the Gators. The difference is that shortage was Wilbekin and Prather, and this shortage is Frazier and Yeguete (from my perspective, the most important player on this team.

We are going on the road. Donovan has no backup in the frontcourt and has very carefully managed the foul trouble of Young and Murphy by pulling them quickly after their first and second fouls. Young has done well to play hard without fouling but he rarely plays a 30+ minute game. A tough call or 2 and Young could end up seeing some time on the bench. That's not going to help Young win his match up against Stokes.

Stokes has gone to bench early in many games due to foul trouble. I think there is just as much a chance of that happening tonight as foul troubles for Patric and/or Erik.
