Even Georgetown is ahead of us now...didn't we cancel them out?

We can't afford a letdown at Tennessee if we want a #1 seed.

You got to love the AP. We lose to a decent Arkansas team and they drop us 5 spots. Miami loses to a really bad Wake Forrest team by 15 and they drop them 3 spots.

more relevant...We lose to Mizzou #41 RPI by 3 on the road and we fall 3 spots

Miami loses to Wake #140 RPI by 15 on the road and they fall 3 spots

I'm okay with us being #8. Teams will fall in front of us and we will be where we need to be at the end.

Go Gators!

No worries, really. At this point I don't care so much about seed, but as to where and who UF plays in the bracket. We'll get punished if UF loses to UT, but I'm starting to believe it will most likely make no difference in our chances in the tourney. I think many of us realize, this team CAN lose to a number of teams away from home, but I still contend that if UF is hot, the Gators are the most dangerous team in the tourney.

The coaches poll always gets made fun of because its really never the coaches who do the voting. SID I'd guess, or maybe even some intern. Whats sad is that its often better than the AP poll is.

Our history of fading-down-the-stretch in sports is more worrisome than anyone cares to admit.

I find your jaded view of UF sports history fascinating... That's why Billy has one of the best winning percentages of all time in the tourney...it's because his Gator teams have a "history fading down the stretch" ;)

and since you said "sports" I assume you think football has a history of fading down the stretch? winning 3 out of 4 championship games, reeks of fading down the stretch as well..lol

The AP underrating the Gators won't impact our seed. After weekend, Lunardi still had UF as a one seed.

Until we can establish ourselves as a consistent scoring threat by getting the ball inside to Young or to Murphy and finishing, I have no quarrel with where we are ranked. We have lost balance by taking too many poor three shots from questionable looks.

Seems to me that in the past(most times) when our f-ball and b-ball teams get near the top they immediately lose a game or two; I've always thought they couldn't handle their big heads.

Not looking for sunshine, don't have to...I see it every day. Two NC in BB in last 10 years, Two also in FB. The number of schools that can make that same claim is very limited. I guess you have to win them every year to satisfy some people on here. There is always room for improvement but a "history of fading down the stretch" does not match up with above record. Your glass is half empty there Player, mine is half full. To each his own.

If you compare our legacy to Georgia, then you may have a point.
But I compare us to the very best because I expect nothing less.
And that means Kentucky in basketball and Alabama in football.
Feel free to make all the excuses for us that you want since 1910.

Yea two basketball titles, two football titles, multiple college World Series appearances... Back to back basketball championships mix with a football championship with the second basketball championship.... Yea Kentucky and Alabama nowhere close. Alabama and Kentucky are still looking up to Florida, trying to figure out the blueprint on how to championships in multiple sports, not just one.

Ease up guys. ThePlayer has been following UF sports for over a hundred years now. It's gonna take at least 80 more great years to make up for the first 90. The first 40 years ('10 - '50) were particularly irksome!

And after all that, then he had to deal with the '70's :whoa::beat::awkward::cry::fuming::beat::awkward:

I actually have the same view as theplayer...it's rooted in our football performancein the per-spurrier years of the 80s. We've won several championships since then but whenever we get upset I always think " not surprised that the gators choke again".

Truth. Out of all the teams that are decent (meaning make it to the NCAA's or the NIT), only two don't end with a loss. Chances are we'll be one of those teams this year. Even if we win 5 and lose in the finals, there will be plenty of people on here bashing Billy about how he can't win close games or something ridiculous.

Success is a funny thing, isn't it?
Recent success apparently makes you forget all about the past.
We opened our doors in 1853 yet only started sports into the 1900's.
Our trophies may be newer...but you can count them all on one hand.

3 Football + 2 basketball = 5 fingers (1 hand).
You can pretend all you like, but these are the only 2 sports that matter in the world.

Besides, we should have another 5 in baseball by now...but don't even have one.
If you want to count total sports titles...we look pathetic compared to a Stanford, UCLA or USC.
And those schools are younger than us with 100+ titles to our 20-something...just keeping it real.
Not saying that I'm not proud of my Gators, but let's call a spade a spade.

I'm sure a school like Norte dame or ucla has a prettier media guide each year with all those championships but I don't really see how that helps them win a championship this year. It sure didn't help ND. I guess I just don't care what happened in 1910. To each their own ill be rooting for Florida to keep adding trophies as we go into the future as will you I'm sure.
