I really like your posts Mama, but I majorly disagree with whomever put this list together.
1: Austin Powers. Ok movie, really not a funny scene at all...just alot of his dialogue in his "funny" accent.
2: Something About Mary.....pretty funny, Ben Stiller is good.
3: Office Space. Great movie Very funny. They didn't pick nearly the funniest scene.
4: Old School. Ferrell being Ferrell...I think he's less and less funny the more I see him. Ironically, Seann William Scott is a great comedic actor (Goon, Role Models)
5. Napoleon : One of the greatest comedies ever made. Absolutely brilliant in it's simpleness, just a phenomenal character comedy that doesn't have to rely on guys pretending to do nasty things with science lab equipment.
6: Anchorman: Pretty good, actually like carell, Rudd, Applegate and Koechner better than Ferrell now.
7: 40 year old. Not a funny movie at all. I'm a big Paul Rudd fan. He doesn't need the smut to be funny....Rogen does. Just watch their other movies.
8: Wedding Crashers. Ugh. Vince Vaughn, he's too much for me. Not funny anymore. Owen Wilson is likable, but not really funny.
9: Knocked Up: Actually a sweet movie, not too funny, same as most Judd Apatow hack jobs. And that scene isn't funny at all.
10: Superbad: Bill Heder as a cop is outstanding. The scene they selected...ugh. I hate Jonah Hill.
Having a top 10 list and not having ...
Ted
Horrible Bosses
Role Models
The Ten
Bridesmaids
Step Brothers
Hangover
Best in Show
??
Napoleon, Anchorman, Office Space deserve it.

Lets just say that the era of truly "funny" movies died in the early '90's.
There are few, and I mean FEW, truly funny movies I know of in the past 15 years.

9/10 of those movies are as unfunny as this clip.
Office Space is fabulous however.

There are about twenty scenes in Young Frankenstein that can compete for the the top ten of all time. Most of them with Marty Fieldman.

It was simply something I found and copied from You Tube, while looking for something else. I am glad it spurred some controversy and appreciate the feedback.

That's why I said I like you mama, and didn't want you to take offense.
My issue is with the people who posted, not you.
Your still #1 in my book

Agreed.
Spinal Tap and Trading Places are funny movies.
Trading Places, a totally classic, and FUNNY comedy movie. There isn;t hardly any in the last dozen years that rival that movie for pure comedy.

Dumb and dumber?
No real true humor there, just slapstick silliness.

In addition to Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, I'm a big fan of History of the World, Part I. Also crazy about Holy Grail and Life of Brian. And I really like a couple of the Pink Panther movies (the French Connection one was great). Can't forget Spielberg's first comedy, "1941", which leads us to talking about Belushi (Animal House, etc.). Most of the movies from 1997 to 2007 that have been mentioned were not that good compared to what came out in the 1970's.

The 1970's was a vintage decade for comedies. Mel Brooks was in his prime, National Lampoon hit a home run with Animal House, Burt Reynolds with the Longest Yard and the Smokey and the Bandit, longest Yard, a many more.

Dumb and Dumber? I agree.
Yep, no matter what you call it (humor, slapstick, silliness)...that movie was out of control.
All I know is I laughed til I hurt.
That's a comedy right there.

n.
1. The quality that makes something laughable or amusing; funniness: could not see the humor of the situation.
2. That which is intended to induce laughter or amusement: a writer skilled at crafting humor.
3. The ability to perceive, enjoy, or express what is amusing, comical, incongruous, or absurd.
Dumb and Dumber absolutely contains humor.
And if I laugh at something, it's funny. You can try to downplay one of the funniest movies ever, but you look kind of foolish doing it.

Or you look foolish laughing at a couple of guys acting like morons. If comedy at an 8th grade level is your bag, then more power to you. I just can't really get into a movie that appeals to the lowest, common denominator... two characters portraying their Nth level of stupidity and ignorance for 90 minutes. No, it's not all that funny to me.
I won't tell you there weren't a couple of funny parts to that movie, but overall?
Just pure silliness, and especially not worthy of a sequel.

Some us listed funny movies but we deviated from the topic. Here is my attempt to get on topic:
1, Young Frankenstein. Scene: The doctor (Wilder) is asking Igor (Feldman) whose brain did he stole. The reply was Abbie Normal
2, Blazing Saddles. Scene: The sheriff is near
3, Plaines, Trained, and Automobiles. Scene: Thise aren't Pillows
4, Airplane. Scene: June Ward talks Jive
5, Animal House. Scene: Belushi on the ladder peeping into windows
6, Ghost Busters. Scene: Bill Murray telling the Mayor that "This man has no dick".
7, Smokey and the Bandit. Scene: Jacky Gleason "I can't believe that you came from my louns@
8, The Groove Tube. Scene: The Talking Penis
9, Something Special About Mary. Scene: The beans is over the frank?
10, Meet the Parents. Scene: when the parents learn that Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) first name is actually Gay.

I thought Caddyshack was Murray's funniest movie. And I don't think Smokey and the Bandit was as funny as the others in the list. I do agree that Airplane was hilarious.
I don't think you can rate the funniest scenes in movies, because you have to think about the scene in context. There are some funny scenes in generally bad movies (example: anything by Keenan Ivory Wayans), but you can't enjoy them because the movie stinks. And a scene is generally made funnier if it fits into the plot, and fits into the character development and the story. That's why some TV actors don't translate to movies (Dana Carvey, e.g.). You can't do ten SNL sketches that are individually very funny and turn it into a funny movie.
