Game threads are at football post count levels. The Mizzou game thread is approaching the post count of LSU and UT (football) games...and has surpassed many other football game threads.
The interest and excitement are back to 2007 levels.
I know it may seem like a little thing, but I think it says a lot.

Nothing like a loss to bring out the commentary. There are a lot of Gator hoops fans back in the fold and none of us were happy with the way things turned out Tuesday night.

I wasn't happy but I still think it was a good loss for us. I'm optimistic and of course think others should agree. :)

I'm glad the enthusiasm has returned for b-ball. Billy and the kids deserve it. I know the loss probably brought out those who needed to vent, but even that tells you they were watching! Great post by the OP :-)

Interesting point Tilly.
Have you seen The Rise of the Guardians, or looked at any of Rupert Sheldrake's rather substantial empirical research on the very interesting influence/power of Morphic Fields?
The awareness phenomenon is something that most people in the Western World are completely unaware of, but it influences everything that occurs.

This is a good point and it is one of the reasons I have been leaving the game threads up for a couple of days. It gives people a chance to peruse them and catch up with what went on. Also jag always posts great pictures for those who may not be aware of it and they are well worth looking at. They are always at the end of the thread.

We're back to watching exciting Gator basketball much like 2005-2007 was.
And I plan on enjoying this little roller-coaster ride until it kills me.

I love to see the increased interest but really wonder why it takes multiple 20+ point blowouts to finally draw the crowds. The last three years have been very exciting basketball, even if many of the games were close and The teams at times very frustrating it has been fun to watch nonetheless. I am actually less excited about watching us beat Auburn and South Carolina by 30 then I have been about close games the last couple years against Georgia and LSU. But as they say everybody loves a winner. I hope it continues.

there is a great appreciation for this particular team. program is in very good health once again. BD is a coaching icon. winning and performing well - going deep and exceeding expectations will heighten interest. go to a game in the o'dome and you'll get hooked for sure! as more and more rowdies become alumni, get some money/wealth, i think you'll see the fanbase - and interest - continue to grow, especially under billy d.

Hmmm.... there is a difference between a good loss and a loss being good. I never want the gators to lose if that's what you're implying. If you wanna stew in it, be my guest.

True, but I dont equate posts in the game thread to "interest" as much as I do excitement. People are very pumped right now.

still an awful lot of gator fans that are almost 'only football' type fans. and i see that with other fanbases too - just a general observation around the workplace. now you see some cane fans, for once, following hoops - college hoops, that is. they haven't done that since, what, 1997-8 or so.
most gator alum's around the office will get engaged w/ gator hoops when the ncaa's come around. they may catch a game or two - on tv. but that's about par for all the other fans in the office too.

I'm always excited for Gator basketball.
I just don't like football posters ignorance sometimes ruining the more level headed basketball discourse.
But billy deserves all the excitement of the Gator nation and more.
