"A former University of Florida football player with a history of trouble has had another run-in with the law.
Ronnie Wilson, 25, was arrested in North Lauderdale and charged with displaying a firearm during the commission of a felony and multiple drug charges, including oxycodone trafficking and cocaine and marijuana possession.
Wilson, 25, appeared in court Tuesday and was ordered held without bond."

Really? Do you know any of the kids who actually do come from that type of situation? Obviously Wilson is a repeat offender but your sarcasm is weak. That is all.

What a waste of talent and life. Maybe he wakes up, and turns it around, but going by his past, don't think so.

You give them an opportunity and give them structure. If they fail to take advantage then that is on them.
Now if you give them multiple chances to fail big (see Lawrence Phillips) or there are a plethora of thugs who seem to show up and not just underprivileged, then that is on the HC. Not ready to dump on Urbs on this one. Seems about the right number of chances before getting kicked out.
Obviously the amount of talent determines the number of screwups handed out. Rainey got a VERY short leash in the NFL.

Okay, this is part of the problem. Whether you realize this is or not, this question (in bold) is basically a-sad-attempt to excuse this type of behavior. You may try to come up with some bogus rationale that it's really not, but it is.
I came from a situation every bit as bad as Wilson's, I would almost guarantee it. I was basically brought up in a zoo, and was repeatedly exposed to crap a large percentage of people viewing this thread haven't seen.
Yet, somehow I'm not firing off fully-automatic weapons out in a public parking lot. And, like a lot of other people who come from broken backgrounds, I find a way to go to work every day and pay bills. And raise a son.
People who continue to be defiant and neglect the law deserve to be put behind bars. Period. I don't care where you come from.

You must have missed the part stating Wilson was a repeat offender. I wasn't defending Wilson by any means. My point was regarding the sarcasm towards a bad situation & pointing out that there are indeed kids who come from very troubled homes & no they don't always see things the way "normal" people do. Once they have been advised to correct their behavior, it's on them but to sarcastically joke about that environment is weak.

Sad story. He was over our dorm/apartment a few times his freshman year when he still had promise. It all came apart pretty quickly for him and, apparently, years later he still hasn't recovered/learned.

Per another website, Wilson committed on 12/1/04 as part of our 2005 class.
He either committed right before Meyer joined up or was Meyer's first recruit. It's funny he committed during such a tumultous time.
That class was ranked pretty high for a transistion class but didn't pan out. It included Reggie Nelson and Avery Atkins (5 stars), plus Kestahn Moore, David Nelson and Wilson (4 stars) and many others.
Interestingly enough, one of the lowest ranked members of that class was Louis Murphy, who just completed his 4th year in the league.

I agree.
If Wilson was 16 or 18 I would cut him som slack for the reason of his upbringing (or lack of).
But Wilson is 25 years old.
Way too old to be given a pass for his upbringing.
Way to many adult experiences to learn from.
Way past time for him to own his problems and his life.
