prezbo was very much in favor of sequestration when he thought it would help him

Prezbo on the sequester cuts
November 21, 2011
Already, some in Congress are trying to undo these automatic spending cuts. My message to them is simple: No. I will veto any effort to get rid of those automatic spending cuts to domestic and defense spending. There will be no easy off ramps on this one.

I don't think it ever occurred to him that his pathological disinterest in real spending cuts (instead of getting credit over and over again for "past" "cuts") would lead to the GOP being ready to take any putative cut they can get, any mechanism for slowing this writhing leviathan. So he was for it when he saw no political circumstance in which it would actually happen.

He was also adamantly against raising the debt ceiling at one time. According to him (circa 2005), you would think it was a failure of leadership that would cause a president to even consider raising the debt ceiling. Now, thanks to his nuanced, subtle adjustments in his position on the subject, you would have to be a low-down criminal to NOT raise the debt ceiling.

i still think PUBS will cave---for last 30 years PUBS have been terrible at fiscal responsibility......let us hope we get cuts, but I doubt it.

He was for them when he thought it would force the pubs to do real work to make smart cuts and tax increases to cut the deficit.
He never imagined that the pubs would be willing to swallow the poison pill.
Hopefully he will learn to never underestimate the lengths the Pubs will go to in order to "win".
By allowing the cuts to hit in this manner they are ensuring we go back into recession. Ensuring that there will be lots and lots of pain out there. And counting on the Fox news watchers to blame it all on the Dems.

I admit I don't follow politics the way all of our resident experts do. But, I have trouble following the idea that Pres. Obama is a bully, dictator, etc. For the life of me I can't think of a single thing the republicans have come up with in the way ideas or solutions. It seems their only strategy is to take the opposite position. Just my lame uninformed opinion.

The new obama code word for no cuts whatsoever.

The potus will make a statement or propose action one day and then blame the reps the next day for the comments or proposals. He realizes his supporters will never know the difference or in such awe the do not care. The media being the worst culprit. Sequestration is just one example. He is now blaming reps for something he created.
Even the lib Woodward reported it as such.

This is one of those really silly memes constructed by the right wing media machine that permeate down to the acolytes.
Sequestration was part of a deal as a means to an end. Coming back to renegotiate it was always part of the plan. Any argument to the contrary is partisan nonsense.
