Jerry Palm has us up to a #2 seed. Missouri is 8, ole Miss a 9. Kentucky is a 12 and in a play in game against Temple.

I'm not buying Michigan State as a 1 seed based on their win over Michigan.
If UF closes 26-4 (16-2) and Yeguete is back by the end of the regular season, there is no way UF won't be a 1 seed.

Michigan State has 4 total losses, with 2 in the Big 10 and is tied with Indiana for the lead.
Their non-conference losses were to Connecticut (62-66) and at Miami (59-67).
Their in-conference losses were at Minnesota (63-76) and at Indiana (70-75).
They have victories over Kansas, Texas, Ohio State, @ Wisconsin, home against Minnesota and Michigan.
Their #1 seed is not merely based on 1 home game against Michigan.

I'm hoping Kentucky's seed is taking Noel's injury into consideration and not where he would have us otherwise.
Not sure how many of you have been following the NCAA media-mock selection committee that started yesterday and ends today. I've found it fascinating. For starters, there is no "S curve" anymore (where the worst 1 seed would end up with the best 2 seed and so on). They used to have this and tried to follow it. More recently they said they stray from it in favor of some other factors sometimes. Now they say they dont' follow it at all.
The latest yesterday had Florida bumped from the last 1 seed to the first 2 seed. Florida was voted anywhere between 2nd and 8th by the media committee. They claim they're doing the selections as though the season was over today and claim to be doing it exactly the same way the official committee does.
I imagine when their bracket is done it'll be made public. If someone else doesn't post it on NBN I'll do it if I see it.

the S-curve is something they need to follow - or attempt to. sure, now there are some geographic issues to contend w/ (pods) and you adjust the seedlines to avoid conference match ups early in the rounds, etc. but i would think, you should endeavor to follow it. and then 'break it', but only w/ good cause.

they sure do love to "pair" us w/ Butler....

^^^ I agree with both of your posts, but unfortunately it sounds like its possible to be in a bracket with the best 1 seed, best 2, best 3...and so on. Looking at the last few years, it makes sense that they moved away from it because they weren't following it very closely.
If memory serves, I believe the media had both Butler and Florida as 2 seeds as of last night. Honestly though, If I were Florida I'd prefer to be matched up with Butler this year. You guys will only struggle (if you struggle) with teams that can match you at most positions. Butler would be overmatched.

Michigan St is a team nobody will want to play...typical Izzo squad lots of 6'3 to 6'8 guys that defend and rebound. Indiana is the othe team nobody wants to see in their bracket..everybody else including us Gators have obvious weakness'...be honest do you trust our team in a tight game on a neutral site? The Gator in me wants to say yes...but the last two years and the Arizona game this year wouldn't let me bet a dime on them in a close game...can we get hot shooting the 3's and win it all YES...only time will tell...next year anything other than a Final 4 appearance will be a dissappointment

I noticed that Butler is no longer a host school for the Indianapolis regional.
Hmmm.

Here is another version from ESPN's Joe Lunardi.
http://espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology
I never thought that I would see the state of Florida have so many potential #1 seeds in the NCAA tourney. We'll see if it comes to fruition!
From this bracketology, here are the possible Final4 participants:
Florida/Arizona-Gonzaga vs Indiana/Syracuse ==> Florida vs Indiana
=======================================> Florida vs Mich St : Winner: Florida Gators!
Miami/Michigan vs Duke/Mich St-Louiville =====> Miami vs Mich St

Anyone who doesnt think Tom Izzo has his team ready to make a run, hasnt been watching them. MSU is really good.

I think he recently had 6 final fours in 12 years. Can't argue with that.

Generally, MSU is THE team you don't want to see in the tourney.
I think UF ends up a 1 seed. I'll go with one more loss, maybe Missouri, on the road and them playing for a huge résumé win, and UF winning the SEC tourney. Big 10 teams will canabalize each other down the stretch.

The Gators and Miami, due to playing in relatively weak conferences, have the best opportunity for a season ending run and Conference Tournament run.
Thus, it would be wise to consider those two schools as fairly likely 2 of the #1 seeds. From there out, however, it appears a crapshoot to me, and yes, no one in their right mind ever wants to play an Izzo team, any more than you want to play Wisconsin in Madison.

The media mock selection is out. Instead of starting a new thread, it'll fit in this one well. It has Florida as a 2 seed with a likely (if seedings would pan out) road of 16- Northwestern, 7- NC State, 3- Louisville, 1- Indiana, 1- Michigan, and then either 1- Miami or 1- Duke. Obviously this is unlikely as there are always upsets.
Its important to point out that the mock selection committee (I had this wrong before) actually played out the remainder of the season the way they guessed or voted that it would play out. I don't know all the details but I do know that they had UF losing (hypothetically) to Bama in the SEC finals.
I'll post the image (the best I've found at least in the next post). Not sure how legible it'll be.

This site has UF a 1 seed at 26-4 (16-2) plus a 65% chance of winning the SEC tournament. If you click on the teams, UF has the highest percentage chance of winning the national championship.

Those brackets are loaded with teams we have played this year or teams we have recently played in the tournament. I'd rather see new teams.

Who in their wildest dreams could ever see Florida as a 2 and MIAMI seeded higher, which right now, is not unreasonable, imo.
Miami is having a complete outside of the box year, funny that only a few hundred actual Miami hoop fans get it.

Texas is 11-13. Don't disagree with you that Mich. St. is a very good team. Just saying beating Texas isn't very impressive this year.

Ugh, would not want to see UCLA or NC State in the second round as a #2 seed. Both are more talented than the level they've been playing at, IMO. Then to have Louisville as the #3 seed would be rough. Also, Indiana is the last #1 seed I'd want to face this year, so there's that too. Would be an all around terrible draw.

I agree about NC State. Leslie seems like a player that could easily "go off" in the Tourney.

Beating sub .500 UTex is no big deal. I know you can have bad losses, but Michigan State has some bad wins. A closer look at their schedule shows they scheduled too many weak ooc teams. No, I don't think they are a 1 seed as of now. Of course, that could change just like closing out can change for every team. Michigan State has a hard close so they will get a chance to prove they deserve a 1 seed.

Oddly Gameday is at KU today for the Texas game. ESPN loves them some Kansas.
Hard to believe for all of their history they only have one more title than we do.

We did have an easy draw, but half of that was Missouri getting upset in the first round. I think Marquette was the real deal though. Have been saying all year I don't want to face Indiana or Louisville. Indiana is the best team in the nation IMO.
