Gotta love blanket statements about one of the fan bases national writers refer to as the "most knowledgeable" quite often.

What I've said a hundred times about this is that each fan base has a % of losers. Every single one. The bigger the fan base, the more losers this means. These types are, IMO, much more prone to flock to message boards.

I won't post on their board, but I do occasionally read some of the threads to see what they are thinking.

Kentucky quite literally has nothing but UK basketball, sometimes UL basketball and thats it. No pro teams, no hockey, MLB, NBA, NFL... NOTHING

Their state sucks, their cities suck, they are stupid rednecks and they live eat sleep and breath UK basketball. It's quite pathetic. By the way some of my family is from Kentucky so I'm qualified to say this. :)

in my limited travels (one trip to rupp, several to sec-t in atlanta, a couple ncaa's thru to final four), i think the UK fans are pretty much tip-top on basketball. both in passion (second to none there, but also in knowledge...) it's particularly evident at the sec-t (heck, some knew gator recruits better than i did).... and i didn't really run afoul of any bad ones at rupp (of course, we lost my one trip there at the end - might have been a different story had we won - overcoming like a 14 pt halftime deficent). everyone was super nice before and after. very hospitable.

Shockingly...and I repeat, shockingly, Louisville is a pretty cool city. Some great bars, restaurants, neighborhoods, ect... It's like a little Chicago. I am shocked.

Kentucky is like many Southern states....the further you get from a real city, the louder and kookier people become. I'm from Florida...and live in NC...the same is true in those places. Problem is Kentucky has few real cities most of the population is more rural than Florida or NC for instance.

Also as mentioned above...It's lack of any other sports (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB...REAL college football) don't help matters.
