You just can't make this stuff up people. How can anyone say that these people all don't need to go.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/02/10/pelosi_a_false_argument_to_say_that_we_have_a_spen ding_problem.html

HOUSE MINORITY LEADER NANCY PELOSI: So, again, we have to make a judgment about how do we get growth with jobs, that's where the real revenue comes from. You don't get it by cutting down your (inaudible), cutting into education, cutting back on education in science and National Institute of Health, food safety, you name it.

So, it isn't as much of a spending problem as it is a priorities [problem], and that's what a budget is, setting priorities.

So if you recognize that, which cuts really help us and which cuts hurt our future. And cuts in education, scientific research and the rest are harmful. And they are what are affected by the sequestration. So, it is almost a false argument to say that we have a spending problem. We have a budget deficit problem.

WTF????

I would say unbelievable...but sadly as evidence from too hot it is believable.

I am loosing "hope" that this country can "change" with just ridiculous assertions like this from people in leadership positions.

Sadly the dems and some pubs think the only answer to education is $$$'s...

And they like to say conservatives are small minded...

If you don't like massive cuts to defense, SS & Medicare then we don't have a spending problem. It is a revenue problem.

You can't fix stupid.

Sadly for our country, neither can we seem to elect someone else for her seat either.

She is out of her mind.

She has been elected by a group of citizens that she represents. And overall, she represents a majority of the voters. So who is out of their mind, her or the people who voted for her to represent them in congress?

And she and they aren't alone.

100% of it is a spending problem, 0% revenue. We left any claim to having a revenue problem dead on the side of the rape about 10% of GDP as government spending ago.

Government doesn't create wealth. It destroys it trying to transfer it.

The transfer is expensive. Think how much it costs to feed the bureaucracy while make payments for Social Security, Medicare, food stamps, Obamaphones, etc, etc.

Jerry Brown got his tax increases as did Obama and the ACA. I got hit coming and going. So now that I'm paying my "fair share," we can't have a revenue problem.

It's the spending, Stupid!

Congress has a 9% approval and yet 94% of incumbents were reelected in 2012. The majority of voters are ill informed single issue voters who can't think for themselves. That's a working definition of stupid.

We just have to come up with a paltry $238 Trillion in new revenue to cover unfunded liabilities. Can you say QE to Infinity?

What do you expect from a career politician who is the daughter of a career politician and someone who has probably never maintained a household, let alone Congressional, budget in her life.

You have to remember the goal: to make everyone low middle class.

I already emailed her and other democrats a month ago and gave them the facts:

Throw out discretionary spending. Ignore it. Pretend we have no government other than entitlements and a dept that handles paying the interest on debt. There is no military, no bases, no federal employees other than those that handle mandatory spending and interest payments on debt, no Congress, no FDA, no FEMA, no IRS, etc.

We are still $250 Billion short. We would need to up taxes on everybody at least 30% to pay for entitlements and interest on debt. Even if you took everyone's pay as 100% taxes, we still only pay for 25% of discretionary spending. We still would need to cut discretionary spending by 75% stay at break-even. Anyone with a tenth of a brain knows you can't tax income at 100% - not even at 50%.

So the obvious thing to do is cut entitlements. No choice since you can't touch interest on debt. Considering interest rates will only rise over the next couple of years and last decades and debt will be at $20 Trillion by the time Obama leaves office, you have to cut entitlement spending in addition to discretionary spending which includes every program Pelosi indicated in her speech in 2012.

I never got a response back from her or her posse.
