Gators battling Eckerd College for Trevon Young, will bring on walk-on K Danny Krysalka

"Message boards were abuzz with chatter that Florida had hosted a "mystery recruit" on an official visit this weekend, and this wasn't a gimmick trying to gin up hits and subscriptions — this year, Florida boards tried that trick by teasing surprises that did not come. Trevon Young is that mystery recruit, apparently, a 6'5", 275-pound (or 6'6", 260-pound, depending on what you're reading) player who Florida has offered as a tight end according to both Rivals and 247Sports after eyeing as a lineman.
But there's a catch with Young: The Bradenton Herald's Alan Dell reports that he's deciding between Florida ... and Eckerd College, where he could play Division II college basketball. Dell paints Young as a kid who truly loves basketball, and it might be hard to pry him away from the court, but there's no other contender for his next four years as a football player.
Look for Young to make a decision at some point on Thursday.
Florida getting Young would fill a hole at tight end in the 2013 class; it's the only offensive or defensive position not played by at least one of the 28 Florida signees. But one of the biggest holes for the Gators in general is at kicker, where Caleb Sturgis has held down the job with steady, accurate placekicking for four years.
It's going to be filled with a competition, apparently: Florida, with Brad Phillips and Austin Hardin already on its roster, will bring Ocala kicker Danny Krysalka to Gainesville as a preferred walk-on, according to Adam Silverstein of Only Gators ... and the website of a kicking camp Krysalka attended. I've considered Hardin, who was an Under Armour All-American in 2012, the favorite to win the kicker job, but Florida likely doesn't feel completely comfortable with Hardin and Phillips if it is bringing on preferred walk-ons."
