portion of article per Orlando Sentenal and also reporting by G-ville Sun:
"Sophomore Jeff Driskel entered the offseason the Gators' undisputed starting quarterback.
Driskel's subpar performance in Florida's stunning Sugar Bowl shellacking by Louisville did not change things. But when Jacoby Brissett decided to transfer to N.C. State, coaches needed a back-up plan, just in case Driskel gets injured or does not make the necessary progress in the offseason.
The Gators may have found one in Tanner McEvoy, who spent this past season at Arizona Western College in Yuma after he signed out of high school with South Carolina.
ESPN.com reported on Monday that Gators offensive coordinator Brent Pease visited McEvoy on Friday and offered McEvoy a scholarship.
"They are looking for a JUCO kid who can come in and compete for the job," McEvoy told ESPN.com.
McEvoy is listed at 6-foot-6, 215 pounds and is known for his athletic ability.
McEvoy threw for 2,264 yards and 32 touchdowns and rushed for 1,196 yards and 14 scores during his senior season at New Jersey's Bergen Catholic High School. But South Carolina signed McEvoy in 2011 out of to play wide receiver because of his size and 4.6 speed in the 40-yard dash."

A bit skinny, but I like it. Who knows, he could be the second coming of Aaron Rodgers lol.

Would Tanner have 2 or 3 years of eligibility left if he signs with Florida?

I'm guessing 2. He was at USC one, then went to JUCO.

Hey would be a sophomore this year.

I believe he would have 3 years to play 2. In other words, if Jeff didn't get hurt, he could RS this season and have two more to play after that.
Why didn't he sign/enroll at SC? Grades or did he transfer because he wanted to play QB?

Let's hope he's not the second coming of Clint Trickett.

He was just buried on the depth chart and wanted to play sooner than later. SC appears pretty well set at the QB position for at least the next couple of years but Tanner has a lot of upside despite being raw coming out of high school.
I think if he played more than one year in HS as a QB he would still be at SC. He needed the JUCO work IMO.

Wonder if this means we're going to start running more spread option again.

I doubt spread option but what we ran last year was largely a spread with a running QB component, so he'd fit in pretty well.
Kid's got wheels, but if you thought Tebow's throwing motion was weird ...

Dont we have about 8 QBs on the side lines now, we only need one who doesnt lose games and can read defenses.

Get em here, if it doesnt work out at QB, maybe he can slide into a WR spot like Spurrier thought he should do. I want that athlete

Three to play two or four to play three?

When it looked like we were going to fill up the class, McEvoy probably wouldn't be a good use of a scholarship. Since we're now obviously going to fall short of filling our scholarships, we can take a risk on the big guy with speed and athleticism.

Does anyone think we are going to get this kid after starting his recruitment so late?

Yeah, we're definitely going to have to bring in Scott Loeffler to work with him.

Yeah good point. I guess I was thinking more of the lines of taking trips just to take them.

This says he has 3 to play 2 and I think his mother might be coming with him.

For what it's worth, according to Bleacher he didn't hit it off well with Muschamp.
