Good question.

I think the smiley or happy emoticon is there because he wasn't even on Florida's want list.

"Florida 3-star linebacker Keith Kelsey Jr. has committed to the Louisville Cardinals. This, coming after his weekend visit to UK, giving Stoops and the Cats the opportunity to make their best last impression, but alas, this one goes to the Cards.

UK linebacker Avery Williamson was Kelsey’s host on the visit and he said he had a great time getting to know the team. The 6-foot-1, 213-pound linebacker out of Gainesville High picked UL over South Florida and UK.

Kelsey’s father, Keith Kelsey, played at Florida and the family lives in Gainesville, and they’ve had a great relationship with Louisville Head Coach Charlie Strong from his time with the Gators as their defensive coordinator."

Latest tweet from Jody Demling...

"Keith Kelsey actually put on UK hat at his announcement and then said "psyche I am a Louisville Cardinal baby. Go Cards!"

There was some thought that Kelsey might be a NSD plan B, along the lines of Andrades, if we couldn't fill our vacancies.

I hope he can cover the wheel route better than his father.

Hopefully that means Powell is solid. Not sure what other possibilities it might indicate.

Andrew Spivey without explanation says Quinton Powell isn't green lighted to come back to UF. I know it doesn't make sense now so hopefully he'll explain when all of this is over.

Another poster was here yesterday saying he heard Powell is a silent to SC.

The only things I can think are Powell burned his bridges or the staff is happy with the 4 LBs we have.

Best of luck to him. He's playing for a great coach

I guess the answer I wanted was his choice of another school was caused by our slot for him already being taken by another. That, and the genetic disability to cover the wheel route...

Can't help but feel that in spite of his talent the staff knows he's just in between LB size and S speed.

Ha! That's what I think every time I think of Keith Kelsey.

I was at the the UF/Bama game in 1999 and Shaun Alexander abused Kelsey. I know it was Shaun Alexander but I think I remember him having 200 total yards or so and Kelsey was grabbing at air all day. We ultimately lost that game on a missed extra point. That was painful.

40-39 and that is exactly what I was referring to. You are the only one to pick up on it. (tip of hat)

My dad came up from Jupiter to attend the game with me. We went to pre-game festivals and all the hillbillys were screaming "Roll Tide" and I remember thinking to myself..."we're going to kill Bama in the Swamp."

Darrell and Dougie played very well. I don't remember who jumped offside on the first extra point attempt but I couldn't believe it. And where I was sitting the 2nd EP looked good. I was stunned and the hillbillies were obnoxious downtown.

Damn...I just looked up the box score and Kelsey Sr. had 10 tackles on the day. But all I can remember was the wheel route, missed tackles and #41 in chase mode all day.

After that game and standing in the parking lot with some stunned Gator friends, I remember being so angry and willing to take it out on any bammer who came by. Just as I saw one approach he initiated the conversation with "Gentlemen, y'all got a beautiful stadium here and I gotta tell ya, that game coulda gone either way...best game I've seen in twenty years. I love commin' down to Gainesville and if my wife wasn't from Tuscaloosa, I'd a moved here years ago. Wish we'd gotten Spurrier before he wound up back here!"

The guy kind of took the wind out of my sails and my anger bled off into the warm afternoon and my diminishing can of beer...still hated that game.

Bammer running game wore us out that day. We would score quickly, they would score slowily, as I recall.

Big recruiting battle between looyville and usf. Doing the cap-switch act is a bit of low class, IMHO.
