It is clear that the framers of the Second Amendment had a far different agenda in mind than skeet shooting. The revolution was not won nor will tyranny be deterred with shotguns. I have yet to hear Mr. Obama or Mr. Biden speak to the real purpose of the Second Amendment which is not the protection of hunting rifles nor shotguns. I would be encouraged if either of these men would speak up about The Peoples right to rise up against a usurper and defend freedom. I am not holding my breath.

Now that he need not worry about reelection Obama can reveal that he is a shooter. Remember, Bill, the liberal way is "Do as I say not as I do". It is not surprising that many liberals who rant for tighter gun control only mean to enact tighter gun control for you and me.

It figures. Skeet shooting is a fairly elitist sport.

Obama expanded gun rights in his first term. And yes, he has spoken in the past about shooting.

Not really. You can buy a thrower and clays fairly inexpensively.

here's an interview from 2008:

http://www.ontheissues.org/Archive/2008_Politico_Gun_Control.htm

Q: You said recently, “I have no intention of taking away folks’ guns.” But you support the D.C. handgun ban, and you’ve said that it’s constitutional. How do you reconcile those two positions?A: Because I think we have two conflicting traditions in this country. I think it’s important for us to recognize that we’ve got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families. We also have a violence on the streets that is the result of illegal handgun usage. And so I think there is nothing wrong with a community saying we are going to take those illegal handguns off the streets. And cracking down on the various loopholes that exist in terms of background checks for children, the mentally ill. We can have reasonable, thoughtful gun control measure that I think respect the Second Amendment and people’s traditions.

I am certain he touched on owning a gun a few years ago - the dude is frankly pro-gun - but it's been pretty polluted with the skeet shooting mess.

there is nothing in that response that supports our claim

Yep. And shotguns can be very inexpensive. Often less than a mid range golf driver. Plus there are a LOT of clay shooting, skeet shooting and trap shooting clubs that are not expensive.

BTW, someone ought to ask the President if he knows the difference between skeet shooting, trap shooting and sporting clay shooting

President Obama recently told the New Republic magazine, "Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time." Today, after some suggested the president's claim might not be true, the New Republic tweeted a picture supposedly proving that Obama has gone skeet shooting:

@tnr: PHOTO: Obama shooting skeet at Camp David. http://whitehouse.gov1.info/camp-david/index.html … (from http://whitehouse.gov )

And here's the picture the magazine pointed to:

The only problem: the picture is a fake, and not hosted on the White House's website.

Within minutes the magazine had deleted the tweet and admitted its mistake:

The New Republic ✔ @tnr

We see it! We see it! Not the White House!
5:32 PM - 29 Jan 13

And then the magazine blamed Twitter for its mistake:

The New Republic ✔ @tnr

OK, everyone. Apologies. Twitter sometimes leads to quick accidents.

That's the trouble with instant 'journalism.' See a photo, tweet it out. No checking. Then you look stupid when you fall for a photoshopped parody.

No doubt we should restrict the use of photos by journalists How about we require a three day "cooling off" period before any photo can be used? Just to be safe.

News of President Obama's apparently long-secret fondness for skeet shooting came as a surprise to those who say they have witnessed the president's "awkward" attempts at pinging the (clay) pigeons. This has only happened with the president at Camp David, at most, a couple of times, according to a source who says he has been to the retreat on a half-dozen visits with Obama.

"The only time he shot skeet was for President's Cup," said the source, referring to a shooting competition tradition involving the presidential Marine guards. "I was there. He stayed for about five minutes, and couldn't leave fast enough."

Skeet shooting "is very hard," said the source. "Especially for someone not used to guns ... He couldn't have been more uncomfortable."

The source said a friend of his recalled Obama skeet shooting one other time at Camp David -- very early on in his first term. The White House did not immediately respond to FoxNews.com's request for comment. Obama professed his sweetness for skeet shooting during an interview posted online Sunday with The New Republic, when asked if he had ever fired a gun.

"Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time," Obama said. "Not the girls, but oftentimes guests of mine go up there. And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake."

His comments were met with surprise by many, including skeptical lawmakers who challenged the president to a skeet shooting match. The press, too, tried to squeeze more details out of White House spokesman Jay Carney. "I'm not sure how often he's done that," said Carney, who said no photos of the president skeet shooting had been released "because when he goes to Camp David, he goes to spend time with his family and friends and relax, not to produce photographs."

"There may be (a photo)," he said, "but I haven't seen it."
