Brazil nightclub fire

prayers for the dead and injured. well over 200 died and many more injured. Fire started as a result of a pyrotechnics show that ran amuck. The club wasn't even supposed to be having the show(no permit for fireworks)

only one question remains---what is the Portuguese word for 'whitesnake'?

That sucks, I don't know why these small venues insist on acting big time. Know your place...

Capacity of this club was 1000 but they allowed 2000 in the door, apparently.

A couple of times I have been to venues that were way oversold and wondered how I would get out in case of something like this. Jane's Addiction at the old Masqerade in Tampa and Foo Fighters at House of Blues in New Orleans immediately come to mind. Both shows were so packed that it was literally shoulder-to-shoulder. Couldn't move. If something happened, it would have been a real bad deal.

Pretty stupid considering those Brazilians supply all the fireworks themselves when they dance.

Hate to think of all those beautiful Brasilada's lost in the blaze. :sad:

Just heard on the news tonight that the bouncers at the club initially blocked people from leaving...
...because they thought they were skipping out on their bar tabs....ouch!! :beat:
