Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis
I Don't Want Tim Tebow
on My Team!
http://ll-media.tmz.com/2013/01/27/012713-mercedes-lewis-tebow-launch-2.jpg
"The Jacksonville Jaguars only won two games last season and are in DESPERATE need of help at quarterback, but tight end Marcedes Lewis wants no part of Tim Tebow.
Tebow's future with the New York Jets is tenuous at best and most experts think the team will send him packing this offseason.
And while the GM of the Jags has already come out and said he doesn't see Tebow joining his hometown team, Lewis hammered the point home last night in Hollywood ... telling our photog, "We need a guy that's going to put us over the hump right now. Not a project."
Might time for Tim to brush up on his typing skills."

Yes, I have no problem with another player's opinion but he could have shown a lot more class saying no comment to the reporter or photog from TMZ..."Our GM makes those decisions."

If I were Jags management, I'd cut him immediately. Who is he to make such comments about any player in the NFL? He's a prime example of what is wrong with the Jets starting with the HC down. Jags, cut the scumbag before he creates team troubles in Jax.

Agreed. The most overpaid/overrated tight end in the NFL. Lewis certainly needs a PR course if he ever wants to endear himself to the fans in Jacksonville.

Again, he doesn't have to want to have Tebow as the Jags' starting QB, I just don't understand why the media has to-once again-blow comments like these up. They just feed off the drama.
It's really sad. Not to say that Lewis doesn't have a right to his own opinion, I just don't get why every three months we have to hear more negative comments directed at Tim.
Spurffelbow833
01-27-2013, 03:54 PM
Tim isn't going to get an even shake in any locker room until he gets a DUI, takes on a few child support payments, maybe pays for an abortion or two. He doesn't have to publicly renounce his beliefs or anything. It's all good. He can still say loud prayers into microphones. It's OK for him to talk the talk, but that walkin' the walk stuff has got to go.

Maybe Lewis is worried that TT never played TE may take his job one day,I am tired of all the black players who have done nothing talking about TT, if a white player said the same about a black QB he would be out of this league, look a Colin at 49ers never had a chance look what he did , Wilson at Seahawks, how stupid are some of these player omaybe racial, get real, maybe TT will not make it but he did a good start in Denver, doesnt any Owner or HC in the NFL have a set of Balls.

Isn't everyone in the NFL overpaid? I don't think I've ever seen him play (the Jags don't keep me glued to the TV), but I wouldn't criticize Lewis for being overpaid.

Plenty of the criticism of Tebow are fair, but when people start with, he's awful, he's the worst, he can't throw, etc. I zone out as you just don't want to have a serious conversation.

Has Marcedes ever played well? He had one season (2010, I think) where he did okay -- 10 TDs. Other than that, he's been a classic underachiever. Under Shack Harris, Gene Smith and JDR, that was okay. I hope Khan's regime flushes this turd down the toilet.

This.
The Jags are my default hometown team and I do my best to support them (though my Gators come first)--but I have to admit, it's hard given the fact that 90% of the team's players are grade-A douchebags who think they've "made it" in the NFL simply because they're starting on one of the worst teams in the league.
The only reason Lewis is paid as much as he is--is solely due to the fact Gene Smith was easily the WORST GM in recent NFL history...not because of any skill on Lewis' part. As you said, the bigger "project" is investing in Lewis, not Tebow.
Honestly, the Jags' front office deserves all the ridicule they get for not embracing Tebow as a part of their roster. If there's ONE thing that would energize and create a buzz about the fanbase, it'd be to get Tebow on the team. How many church-going Christians who have little to no connection to the NFL, but have suddenly become interested solely due to Tebow have shelled out $$ to buy Broncos--and Jets gear? How much of that pie could have been going to the Jaguars' instead?? When they desperately needed it?!

Hey Marcedes, you suck and your mother obviously can't spell....it's Mercedes.
I've often wondered why doctors or nurses or whoever records birth info at hospitals don't point out to a parent the correct spelling of the newborn's name (e.g. it's Mercedes not Marcedes, Isaiah not Isiah, Antoine not Antwan), in case the parent might want to know and for the good of the child. Does anyone know?
It must be a pain to go through life having to give people your name and having to "correct" them when they spell it correctly.
Seems to me like such advice would be a matter of courtesy. But apparently instead of being helped out, a newborn's parent is simply asked, "How do you want it spelled?" If the parent says "Correctly," then the doctor or nurse writes down the name as "Correctly" (if he or she can spell it).

You guys are overreacting even more than the media would. Lewis, weather an idiot or not has the right to his opinion, if he doesn't want Tebow on his team, he can say that, it's his right. I'm sure he's not the only one, I think some other Jaguar said something similar a couple years ago. Plus lets be real, is Tebow even going to help them at all, besides in ticket and merchandise sales? No. That team is more than a QB away.

That has occurred to me, but I fail to see how intentionally misspelling, for example, a biblical Hebrew name (Isaiah) is not conforming to white society's norms.

Sure it's his right. And we have the right to "overreact" as you suggest a lot of us are doing. I think he's a total a$$clown trying to get some attention. Imo getting Tebow would go along way to getting the Jags back on track, getting some positive energy into the franchise. Let's be real as you like to say, whatever they've been doing has been a total disaster. Cutting Marcedes or whatever his name is, would be another step in the right direction.
