He's a Jimmer Fredette wannabe with an attitude. We stopped Fredette, and we'll stop Henderson also. Whoever he is guarding should be the offensive go to person on the first 10 plays. It will guard Wilberkin, Boynton or Rosario. One of them should have the green light against him the entire game.

Heck, Chris Lofton used to shoot over Brewer. The height isn't as important to me as denying him the ball.

If Henderson is 6'4, then Scottie is 6'8. That guy looked tiny at the end of the game I just watched but it could have been by comparison.

People are talking about him as the front runner for SECPOY and the best player in the conference. He's shooting less than 40 percent from the field and I don't think he's even the best player on his own team.

alright Rowdy Reptiles, all together now:

"Billy's D, says Marshall's not the one,
says, we gonna shut u down"

heck,
let's just amend the entire 'Billy Jean' song....get Albert to moon walk and the Rowdies and Dazzler's put on another show-stopping flash mob dance rendition ~~~

Billy's D

Marshall was more like a beauty queen from a movie screen,
I said, don't mind, but what do you mean you are the one?!
Who will dance, on the floor with the roundball?

Rowdies told him their name was "Billy's D" as Marshall caused a scene,
And every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one,
Who'd dance, on the floor, with the roundball.

Rowdies always told visiting guards:
Be careful what you do
Don't go around trying to breakdown this Gator D,
And Donovan always told 'em
Be careful where you dribble,
Be careful when you shoot,
Because the press becomes a trap!

Billy's D: is not for shooters,
Ole Miss just a team who
says they are the one,
But Billy the kid say not this time,
He says: Ole Miss you're NOT the one,
says: "Billy's D" is the ONE!

Notice how the older gentleman with glasses stands up and "mouths" something to Henderson. And one student is ready to go after him. Not smart on Henderson's part to pull that crap. If he's there a few more seconds, who knows what could have happened. If you're going to taunt (which I totally disagree with), then why taunt from that close. And with all due respect, you just beat Auburn. The Tigers are 8-11 and have lost 4 straight. Is that really something you should be bragging about?

Bear1974

He is having a good season.

It would appear he is equating playing to the crowd and being basically an a-hole with how good he is playing right now taking a cue with how Reggie Miller played in his career.

A very good free throw shooter and certainly puts up a ton of shot because at some point he tends to make them up to this point in the season. I don't think he is a good defensive player and that is where I think good teams can take advantage of his play.

I just don't thlink you need to get into head games with this clown because that is what he wants you to do.

Watching him the last few games he plays like a poor man's Jason Williams or maybe Teddy Dupay.

Should be interesting this weekend - players just need to do their thing and just let the crowd do their thing against this guy.

I think this continuation of taunting the crowd is a concept at this level that will come back to bite you in the butt at some point in time. Watching him on tv after the Warchicken game last night go over to the Auburn student section and start to taunt the crowd is a level of immaturity that can be taken advantage of by good/mature teams. Their coach or staff refuse to reign him in because he is playing well and in their minds don't take issue with it - however to me that is mistake and letting his antics carry on like that is going to backfire at some point - maybe starting this week against UKitty.

He's averaging 19.2 ppg but looking at his stat line tells more of the story. Overall shooting percentage is 38.8% while 3 point percentage is 35.7%. Contrast that with KB who is averaging 13.6 ppg with an overall shooting percentage of 42.4% and a 3 point percentage of 35.6%.

Here's the biggie though. Henderson gets his 19.2 ppg on 106 for 273 shot attempts while KB gets his on 78 out of 184 shot attempts. In other words Henderson, as has been noted, is a volume shooter. His overall shooting percentage is less than Kenny's and he has taken over 90 more shots.

Is he a good shooter? I would say yes, but he is no better than SW, KB, MR, MF II or EM and everyone of those listed players shoots a higher percentage than he does.

Having watched him play a few times now, I can definitely say the guy is a helluva shooter. One thing that isn't factored in to those percentages is the type of shots Henderson takes. He takes a ton of contested shots. Our offense is a lot more disciplined and diverse. We take open shots. We are a better team and team offense. Our percentages are better perhaps because of that.

If he takes a ton of contested shots then I doubt he would fit well into our offense. To be honest I don't see how that makes him a good player in any way unless his percentage of made shots was really high and it isn't. I do see what you are saying though about his percentages.

Good analysis. I would expect his shots in the O-Dome next Saturday to be more contested than ever. He'll probably be throwing up some prayers. I normally like it when a team as traditionally bad as Ole Miss (and historically they are the worst in the SEC) gets it together and makes some noise but this punk makes it impossible to cheer for them. You guys will show them that their record is the product of a weak SEC and I look forward to watching it...also if a team ever screamed one and done in the big dance it is these clowns who celebrate every win like they just won a championship.

The problem is those are going to be long rebounds. They average over 20 threes attempted per game and they only shoot 32% (by comparison, we shoot at roughly the same rate, but make over 38%), and they do a lot of it off ball screen action with a big twenty feet from the basket. What that tells me is our guards need to stay focused after the shot goes up, get a body on someone, and go after those boards in the 12-15 foot range. It will slow down our transition game a bit, but will reduce extra shots for them.

Kentucky sure doesn't. There's just no lock down defender this year. We have several guys who can't guard their position, but no one who can take on the opponents best player. Goodwin is our best shot and its not because he has the intensity required or the fundamentals, he's just our only guy with the required athleticism and foot speed (Poythress high athleticism, not great foot speed on the perimeter). No Liggins or MKG.

This is the issue with many young people today. It's not enough to be a good basketball player. You have to "stand out", I.e. draw attention to yourself.

I may be "old school" at 35, this seems to be more of a reflection of his coaches and his parents enabling and supporting this behavior because he could play basketball.

I hope UK beats then tonight and we throttle them Saturday.

I agree with you. Even his coach recently said that he cares more about his "shot selection" than his (paraphrasing) attention seeking behavior. Isn't that just winning is all that matters thinking? This kid has been a dumpster fire for much of his life apparently. Isn't now the time to focus on him as a person as well as a player?

I do too. It's been a tradition here for a long time. Most of the time when it's happening the free throws are a non-issue anyway and we have the game well in hand.

I find it more annoying when the opposing player will try to shuffle step to avoid the chant and throw off the fans LOL

I have been to lots of games in the rowdy reptiles section and it does happen every now and then that the opposing player times his walk to try to mess with the shooter when students are screaming "left, right, left..." and they also try go get the big "SIT DOWN!!" as our player shoots... However, students have picked up on it and will quiet down if they see this happening. I know when I have been there the section has gone quiet and if anyone was still making the chant we would shush them.

According to this article, Henderson tested positive for cocaine, weed, and alcohol in January of 2012.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/sec/2013/01/30/mens-college-basketball-marshall-henderson-mississippi-ole-miss/1843031/

But there is more to his behavior off the court than has been publicly revealed. Although it has been reported that he spent 25 days in jail last spring for violation of the terms of his probation stemming from a 2010 forgery charge related to counterfeit money, court documents obtained this week by USA TODAY Sports detail why that probation was revoked. In January of last year, he tested positive for cocaine, marijuana and alcohol, according to the records provided by the Tarrant County, Texas, District Attorney's office through a Freedom of Information request.

Those tests follow incidents in 2011 when he failed to meet other terms of the probation, such as community service

Sounds like quite the follow up to trying to buy weed with 800 fake dollars. What a guy.

Attempting to rip off someone that you perceive to be a drug dealer is a clear indication that you are not very bright.

I'm guessing that he was busted by an undercover cop and he was lucky that it wasn't the real deal. It would be very hard for Henderson to be launching threes with missing fingers.

Henderson had his jump the shark moment during the UK game. After throwing ice back into the stands and jawing with his own fans....well......the kid is a very, very loose cannon. The team wasted so much energy on rediculous things. They were all in emotionally and eventually crashed. It would not suprise me that they come out Saturday flat as a pancake.

g8tr80

The kid is Mike Rosario before he found Billy Donovan.

I was thinking more along the lines of their games. Rosario at Rutgers was a volume shooting, no defense, offensive minded, basketball player. But look at him now. Born again hard.

It worries me that we have to face 'Ole Miss tomorrow because in our game with the Rebels in Gainesville over a month ago, the refs allowed Henderson to do whatever he wanted in that game. he should have literally fouled out of that game by 7 or 8 minutes left in the second half.

Matter of fact, the refs kept 'Ole Miss in that game for the most part with a lot of one-sdied and phantom BS, and that was in our own house.

Henderson is the "golden boy" of the SEC and we won't get call tomorrow IMO.

Henderson is important to Ole Miss because they honestly don't have too many other offensive options so they need him to score. But he's a volume shooter who misses a lot more than he makes. Skilled at making contested shots, no doubt, but he's not all that impressive to me. Mike Rosario was doing this same kind of stuff at Rutgers as a freshman when he was allowed to take as many shots as he liked out of pure necessity. Wasn't exactly efficient though.

He'd be a much better player on a better team with a coach that reigned him in because he definitely has a nice shooting stroke.
