All went down the past couple of days....which will put us Nr4 in Coaches Poll if we beat Mississippi.

I posed the question in the Louisville/Georgetown thread about where we move to if we take care of business tonight. I know there are some who say it doesn't matter where you're ranked and we don't want the team to let a lofty ranking go to their heads.
I get all of that.
I wonder, though, how much love we get with those teams losing and Duke getting blown out.
I just get the feeling the only team we move in front of is Louisville and only because of the 4 losses.

Right now, it really is looking a lot like there are no dominant teams in the country. K-state, by the way, is losing.
Regarding Rankings, there is one and only one time during a season when Ranking matters, and that is after the end of the NCAA tournament. However, it sometimes does benefit a seed to be ranked highly while the selection committee makes their judgments.
Rankings are simply not very important and are way, way, way over rated and over hyped almost everywhere in the world today.

I agree with you for the most part with the only exception being the perception of recruits. Some I think it matters too, just simply because of the ESPN age of over hyping rankings.

this is our path to a #1 seed, particularly since our league isn't very good
this is especially cool that these teams lost to unranked or very low ranked teams

Yes if UF keeps beating the unranked teams in front of it while other top teams from time to time lose to one, then UF should look better in comparison. Of course UF must take care of its business each and every time out.

Also Arizona lost @ home to UCLA earlier in the week....if we win tonight we should be no worse than 4th...

voters may also be checking out some of the computer ratings too this time of year - like sagarin and/or pomeroy, and seeing the gators on top of both ...they may need an excuse to their votes more in-line w/ those objective ratings. that is to say, they might rank UF a little higher now, especially given the losses in front of the gators.
