I'm not exactly sure who this guy thinks he is or what right he has to tell banks who to bankroll.

Rahm Emanuel presses banks on guns

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, moving to take a lead role in the gun control debate, is turning up the pressure on banks that do business with firearms manufacturers.

Emanuel is sending letters to two major financial institutions, TD Bank and Bank of America, which offer lines of credit to gun makers suggesting that they stop lending money to the manufacturers if they don’t come out for new gun restrictions.

That's a ridiculous expression of political pressure.

for a large campaign contribution by these banks in his 2016 presidential campaign, rahm will gladly "drop" his pressure.

It's certainly neck and neck between him and Bloomberg for Mayors that love to abuse their authority.

Fascist hygiene products, both of them. Who could call a man who would even formulate this thought as policy, let alone applaud it, American in any sense that matters?

I see his point because banning guns in his city has worked so well.

just following the clinten/reno lead when they told banks that either they lend to unqualified people or they would be shut down. all that unqualified demand was the root casue of the housing bubble...not everybody deserves to own a home, contrary to what slick willie thought

Then blame lenders and Wall Street for the meltdown punishing lenders with an avalanche of new regulation (some good) that threatens to put many small businesses out of.

New proposed regulation limiting fee income will have the unintended consequence of eliminating loans for those most in need because they will not be profitable.

Also, Barney Frank was involved along with Jessie Jackson Jr. and ACORN.
