If you don't want to go to Nashville, Bowling Green is an hour and a half away. The Corvette Museum and factory tour were fun.

There was also the Lost Cave. Kind of interesting but overpriced.

A little further is Mammoth Caves Nat'l Park, which is fascinating. Nearby Land Between the Lakes is nice but not the time of year for outdoors.

My brother was at Ft. Campbell for a total of 10 years over two stints. Used to visit him all the time. We just hung around at his place in Clarksville, which is a nice little town. Nashville is close. Bowling Green is probably closer.
